Got 'You & Your Subaru Impreza Turbo' by Chris Rees for xmas (big thanks to the parental units).
Book is published by Haines and from what I've read so far is a top read. Apparently it's only just come out - anybody else get one, and if so, what do ya think?
DP.

drum,
Got the book last month m8. IMHO they should`ve called it "history of the impreza" coz there is no practicle info in it at all
It would be an ideal read for any 1 thinkin about buyin a scoob but 4 any1 who already has the car and knows the basics i`d say save u r money, the book has nothing for u (hell from cover 2 cover i can`t recall it mentioning "spanner" once).
I Was really disapointed in Hayes on this occasion
Looks like they`ve gone in2 story books
Pete

I agree that it wasn't a technical manual as per most of Hayne's publications and would suit someone who was thinking of buying one, but it was nice reading about 'where' my car came from in respect of history behind it etc.
Also felt it was a balanced book as regards not being afraid to highlight Scooby shortcomings as well as the good points.

I got the MRT book "Training WRX" for Christmas - just in the process of reading it and it has more of a technical emphasis on the tuning side. At 35quid it is expensive..... Also it was written in 1999 specifially on the Australian WRX, but I guess parts of it will hold true for new and Jap versions.

Miles,
The training WRX book is a good read m8. Again it`s not a how to or the like but it`s more of a guide as to where u can go and what u may wanna do It even tell`s u some of the practical & basic stuff (where to find u r transmission dipstick for one thing). The number of people that have asked me that
Maybe i expect 2 much from authors, but when i`m payin good dough 4 a book i expect to get something out of it. I read the Haynes book twice n thought "what a waste of paper, if i wanted history... ". Of the 2 IMHO the MRT book is the one for the owners that want into the hands on and outta the spit n polish brigade But there is still plenty of scope for books on the subject. Hell i even thought bout writing 1

GS - There was a review of this book by Steve Breen over on IWOC, basically it's a collection of magazine articles from UK and Oz car magazines on the Impreza. Zero technical.

Got the 1994 - 2001 road test book from Brookland Books.
I seem to remember a guy on here with the 'L' reg UK that was featured in a road test back in 1994.
Well that same car is in this book twice, except the 2nd article has is being driven a tad harder.
Found the early articles interesting as they feature early Prodrive mods, of which my MY94 seems to have most.
