Spec C - General Info

Spec C - General Info
Hi,
I am talking to a reputable garage at the moment about importing an MY03/04 JDM Sti (maybe Spec C).
I had asked two questions, as follows
1. Was the Spec C harder on petrol than the STi (I recall someone saying it was considerably harder than their Type R, which is what i have at the minute)
2. Can they perform a remap to UK fuel
Answers:
1. "The spec c's weigh 120kg lighter then the standard sti, which give's the spec c better fuel economy than the standard sti."
2. "The new age JDM cars dont need mapping to uk fuel as there ecu's are much more advanced and can adapt to uk fuel."
Anybody agree/disagree with the answers?

2) True but doesn't mean it's learnt the optimum STD Spec C about 295bhp remap and no mods 330+bhp.
A) The remap can correct the speedo to mph
B) Can also alter the DCCD settings
C) Maybe more effiecent on fuel + 1mpg
D) you hold the licience and any further mods a cheaper remap
IIRC, IMHO
so personally a remap is well worth it

Powerstation offer an ECUTEK remap for the Sti at £550 + VAT
So would you reckon its more or less the same? My fear would be on motorway driving it would be noticeably harder on juice. As for flooring it, I understand all bets are off!
I would favour a remap myself but I had never heard that the newage ECU can get away without it done
Cheers,
Wes

1. Spec C's (IMHO) are good on fuel. I have tuned mine considerably over the past 2+yrs. Even on my current 2.5L "built" Cosworth Engine, hitting over 480bhp I can still manage to get 240+miles on a run taking it easy to a tank (don't forget these tanks are ONLY 50litres and not 60litres of the normal STi). It must be down to the mapper!
2. A JDM car can run without a remap for UK fuel, but the extra you will spend on Octane Boosters, as well as the pain factor you would be rather silly not to get a remap. Couple that with the fact that you can easily get 350bhp with a remap, exhaust and uprated panel filter.

Thanks guys, that puts my mind at rest.
I've been living with Type R consumption for the past two years so I am accustomed to the low 20's. Just wanted to make sure I wasnt in for a nasty surprise with a Spec C.
