P1's at a discount
#1
I wonder what price the new STI will cost when/if it arrives. The P1 is probably the best Subaru ever (22B's accepted), but used values will get mullered when STI's arrive. It will be interesting to see if the new 6 speed STI with 274lb of tourque will be faster than the P1'a and old STI's.

Just read an article in Autocar about Subaru dealers who are starting to discount the P1's they have on their forecourts.
Apparently this is down to the fact that when it was launched everybody rushed out and placed orders for the cars and then cancelled when it came down to paying for them.
Apparently the dealers now want rid as quick as possible before the new models hit the showrooms.
The article was saying that you could take delivery of a brand new P1 with delivery miles for around 28K.

I've said it before and I'll say it again ..... you will be able to get an ex-demo P1 for around £20K come spring
Who wants a 2door - no radio - car for £30K??
Simply no demand at the inflated prices - I feel sorry for those who bought one new ... look at the loss they are sitting on (smiles or not!!)
I'll keep my practical 5-door wagon thanks .. and the £10,000 change !! that will do nicely sir!

Looked at getting a P1 a little while back. Could get £27k from most dealers with new cars in stock, but no incentives from Subaru means those w/o cars could not do a deal.
Reasons I didn't buy
-£12k better than a normal turbo. I don't think so. Yes its cool/rare for sure and prodrive etc. But worth another £12 grand!!!!! It didn't feel that much faster in my view.
- with the model change I think paying any more than £22-23k is too much, given you can get a normal turbo officially source new in the UK for £18.5 etc.
So I have decided to go for the Prodrive Performance Pack, which is cheaper (£2k), gives extra wallop (247bhp+torque too- I have heard P1s don't quite make the quoted output anyway??), is pure Prodrive as opposed to STI for the P1, and best of all I get to keep 4 doors.

Just wait until everyone finds out that Prodrive employees got their P1's for £21k.
It is also not right that Subaru dealers should be openly selling the remaining P1's at a large discount. I doubt very much if there will ever be a P2/P3 etc. Prodrive made a mistake making making >500. They should also have kept things simple by just importing/remapping STI 6's at a lower price.
I was only joking about the Prodrive £21k bit.
I would also still love a P1 if I could afford.

I doubt they'll be openly selling them at a discount - i.e they won't be advertising it. More likely that if you haggle they'll give you a discount, or maybe a better P/X.
