If I remember right the Bugeye 2002 WRX had the Mitsubishi TD04L turbo and the Bugeye STi (uk) had the IHI VF 34

VF34 uses ball bearing internals, VF35 does not.

Actually there are 4 different MHI turbo shafts for the TD04 range, each having different sized turbine wheels, the TD04, the TD04L, the TD04H and the TD04HL, I have the size compares somewhere. The TD04L as fitted to many Subaru's has a smaller diameter turbine than say the TD04 fitted to the Volvo 850's which use the HL wheel/shaft.

EDIT: here's the dimensions
Model Inducer exducer
TD04 H 52.0 44.0
TD04 (Standard) 47.2 40.0
TD04 HL 52.0 45.6
TD04 L 46.8 41.2

There are also depth differences.....

MODE: Anorak off

Version 7 STI's had a VF30 turbo, i assume the prodrive one has the same as a standard STI, as the only real difference is prodive styling.

AFAIK the only impreza to have a VF34 as standard was a V7 JDM STI Type RA (spec C).

The only difference between the VF30 and VF34 is the VF34 is roller bearing version.

VF35 came on later Version 8 cars, which is basically a VF30 with a smaller exhaust housing, (p15 instead of p18)

VF36 is the twin scroll turbo which i think was only fit to V8 onwards Spec C's, the V7 was single scroll (VF34), or at least the guy i know who has one is a single scroll.
