New Impreza - Now on Sale in Japan!
Just read this... i must admit its growing on me, and i cant wait to see the STi version:
PistonHeads Headlines
Subaru really seem to want to put the past (and arguably their hard-won heritage) behind them with the new model, and have even dropped the WRX moniker in Japan. This new JDM (Japanese domestic market) turbo model will be known as the ‘S-GT’ in its homeland. It is described by Subaru as a ‘Grand Touring’ model.
Surprisingly, it doesn’t feature the 2.5 litre turbo engine of the previous car, but instead uses a 2.0 litre turbocharged version of the boxer ‘four’ producing 250bhp at 6,000rpm and 242lb ft of torque at 2,400rpm. The engine features ‘Dual Active Valve Control’ and equal length / constant pulsation exhaust manifolds. Drive is fed through Subaru’s usual four wheel drive system.

Some details of options: Wheels, gauge packs, footwell lighting, interior colors, bodykits etc.

Mini also have what they call "mood lighting" which light certain interior panels up in a choice of colours.
Dont really think it suits the Impreza though.
Looks like they are out to capture a different market.

In the very early years of the Impreza in the Uk, it didn't sell. Subaru were offering all kinds of stuff to sell them - 0% Finance, Free Servicing, good P/Ex deals ..... hopefully this won't sell and Subaru will panic into offering great deals
I, for one, will probably buy one - my Classic will be 8 years old then ..

I like it (the one pictured anyway)... Who would want anything other than the "Drivers cockpit"
Wonder if the uk will get the gauges etc as an option, they can keep the mood lights though

Cant believe I'm saying this but... it doesn't look too bad, infect I quite like it (must be the moody lighting used for the pics) especially like it in the black...not too shore bout the interior lighting though....and there's now way the backends ever going to look rite even in 'moody lighting' lol

Like I have said before on more than 1 occasion, Subaru say they are going for a wider market with this monstrosity and are looking at the Focus/Astra buyer. Who the fek that normally buys a 1.4 Astra or Focus wants to buy a 2.0ltr Turbo car that drinks fuel like Johnny Vegas drinks Guinness? doesn’t add up to me

Must admit, it's lOOking nicer, but still not a car i'm interested in buying.
This has aimed it's market lower, where the Evo i feel has stayed where it is or aimed higher. Much nicer lOOking motor.

I await the STi / beefed up versions before deciding, but i still love the new Evo in comparison.

I currently own a blobeye wrx. If you go on subaru's website and look at a blob or hawkeye they aren't the best looking cars are they. This looks alot more modern. When I look at my blobeye it does look a little dated I have to admit.

I'll solve the problem. Dust down the design for any late 2 door sti Impreza and run that as your new shape car. Fling in brand new running gear and you have a car that looks the part.
Subaru lost the plot design wise when they started 'feminising' their cars.

Folks check out this weeks autocar for a picture of what the new Sti is believed to look like, they are usually not far off with these.... and I have to say that it looks very imprezive (see what i did there!).. seriously. It looks nothing like the basic models, kind of like the current lancer and lancer evo thing. Have a look and let me know what you think, should be on the autocar website to!

Well if it looks anything like this 'artists impression' I reckon they'll sell a few

One of the main reasons the shape is changed is because the WRC car isnt being succesful at the moment, the cars winning the events are all hatchbacks ? to change the WRC car they had to change the design of the car, and without keeping the Impreza name the rally heritage would be lost. All IMHO of course.
They havent ditched the WRX model, just changed its name, and gone back to 2 litre instead of 2.5.
Im not overly keen on the design but again have only seen it in pictures, most cars look different in the metal.
