Anyone know a good tyre place nr. St Albans?

Taff,
Fairway Tyres, Acme Road (off Leavesden Road), Watford. Close to Homebase, if that helps.
They've done 2 sets of tyres for my car (non-Subaru) at good prices. Can't recall the exact price, but I paid around £220 for 4 x Toyo T1-S 205/50 15, inc balancing/VAT.
They're also very careful with your wheels (at least, were with me).
Don't have the number to hand, I'm afraid.

It's a bit further away but tyres Northampton have an awesome reputation for prices and customer service
Failing that, try.
Just tryes in Stevenage.
I bought some pretty much brand new tyres(~200 miles)from the bbs and they fitted, tracked and balanced them for 10 quid because "I had a cool car". They also have a mileage gurantee, where say the manufacturer says you should be able to get 15,000 miles from a tyre and you only get 7,500. Then they will knock 50%(half of 15,000) off your next set of tyres.
