B & Q prices !!!
Went online to B & Q to check prices of some picket fence packs they sell, they are listed on the website as 13.98 each per pack, that is the store price as you cannot buy them online
Anyway went down to the local B & Q and they didnt actually have any in stock, but the price in store 19.98 !!!!
All the accessories (the metal spikes for the upright posts, brackets etc) are all a couple of quid dearer in store than the price listed on the web site
So I asked one of the guys there, and he said 'Yeah we put all of our prices up yesterday as there is a wood shortage from Russia, where all our fences, fence panels come from)
So I asked why all the steel posts are dearer, and he said again it is due to the wood shortage in Russia, and that some lines are now 8 week waiting list !!!
Ridiculous
I came home and went to order them online, but all that happens is that it lets you print out a list you take into the store and they get the stock for you and deliver it
No good if I have to wait upto 8 weeks for a fence !

Go to your local builders merchants, miles cheaper than any DIY store.
You don't even have to be trade or have an account to buy from them, If you order enough stuff they will delivery FOC as well

It is true, a good friend of mine is in the building industry and he was saying that there is a serious shortage of wood due to China/Eastern Asia buying it all.

I build and renovate houses and everything has gone up.
The price of cement, copper and lead has sky rocketed over the last couple of years due to the amount of building going on in china but wood is just silly pricing
