Default Looking to get a Scooby

Hello everyone, I've just sold my previous car to put some money into a house and I am after a cheaper car to have some fun in. So I'm looking at an imported scoob for 3-4k. I'd appreciate it if everyone could help answer some questions for me as I dont know loads about this stuff.

Whats the best model to go for? (It would be my daily driver)

Whats the performance like?

What common problems are there?

Any recommendations on people that import them?

Will I be able to get a good one for 3-4k?

Many thanks all replies appreciated and if anyone has one for sale around this price then let me know!

For 3-4k mate you could get a good turbo 2000 awd. Thats the UK car so you don't have to worry about SVA's, higher insurance, parts, high octane fuel e.t.c. However the best one to go for as far as power, handling and overall strength is an STI. I'm not too sure what model of STI you will get for 3-4k. You should also be aware that all wrx and sti's in the classic shape are imports. Sorry its only sporadic info, sure someone "in the know" will be along soon.

If you import you're not likeley to do this yourself so it'll need to be a specialist. Ones that I'm aware of are:

J's Garage.
D Hendry cars.
PCM (posts on here).
Litchfields (tend to be almost new cars though).
Scoobybits (nice cars, just had a look ).

£4k should get you a 95-98 ish STi.

Look in the 'For Sale' sections on here.
Have a look on www.sidc.co.ukfor their faq (mainly for imports).
