Default Did a "post-mortem" on my blown gearbox! (pictures)

3 years ago, I blew the gearbox on my UK turbo.

Tonight I was clearing out the garage, and decide to disect the wreckage!

Bits of gear-teeth everywhere!

No, it was a standard 215bhp 1999T reg, with a Revolution exhaust and downpipe, and that was it!

Hence I was very surprised......no, that's not the word.....GUTTED is the word!

Cost me £550 for a second hand box and about another £150 for fitting!

3rd gear went in mine aswell, standard UK 97 P reg with full decat. That was the only thing that ever went wrong with it in 5 years tho so it wasn't too bad.

Thanks for highlighting the damaged parts; be tricky to see what's wrong otherwise...

Ha ha, cheek!!

Well you never know....you've got to cater for the muppets!!

Yes, this was 3rd gear that went on mine too. It went sort of buzzy, and so I knew something was wrong, so I missed out 3rd gear in an attempt to get home but even missing it out didn't help, it made a serious bang and left me stranded on the Kilmarnock by-pass!!!
