which one????
Hi guys! hopefully you will all be able to assist me...I am looking for my first scooby, i have driven a wrx and thought it was really quick but had a bit of a turbo lag, when it did kick in my lad (who is only 5) was reduced to tears bless him..My other half has driven a uk one and said that he personally thought it was more responsive and didnt have as much lag... I personally want a white wrx (1997 on-wards) and he wants a uk as he has been told that the imports have alot more problems, can any of you nice guys/girls please give an views as obviously you own 1 and could give me some advice/pointers??? look forward to you replys.
Many Thanks Vicky

JDM ones have no inherent problems and the spares are freely available (+ lots of experience). JDM car will be of a much higher spec as well.
The 'imports bad' horror stories are 'a mate down the pub' tales that frankly mean that they are talking out of their backsides.
All my scoobies have been imports - no problems at all

All depends really.
There is no reason provided you do your checks on the car, that a JDM would be any greater risk than a UK car.
Personally for my first scoob, I went for a UK model. I wanted FSH, no mods and a UK car.
When I come to sell it I may well go down the JDM route, andy buy a car I already know.
I would say the main rules when buying one are:
Tracability - How much history does the car have?
Modification - Does the car have a dump valve/Induction kit and other potentially damaging mods if not done correctly
General condition - Does the car look like it has been looked after?
As well as the obvious checks you would do before buying any car (water contaminatiol in the oil and vice versa, blue/black/white smoke out the exhaust, excessive engine noise etc, as well as HPI check etc)
Just do your homework, and I am sure you will find a good car, be it UK or JDM.

I dont agree that the imports have more problems but there is more chance of buying an import that is a lemon as you can never really be 100% sure about the mileage etc.
