FAO SDB: Little pictures in the profile

Simon
I've noticed on a few BBS's that beneath the username who posted the message there's space for a picture or so.
Any chance of having this implemented here(the muppet forum would be the best place to start). Naturally all obscene pictures would get banned but it might brighten things up a little?
Opinions?

I think you would be surprised how much extra bandwidth that would require.
BBS pages expire immediately so you can see up-to-the-minute stuff, hence the images probably would too ?

I think an addition of previous cars in cronilogical order and also current cars in the profile would make for a great laugh.
All you previous XR3 owners would be well caught !!!

Lee is right about the bandwidth but....
That has never and (i hope) will never be a reason to not do someting on scoobynet as I saw that as my responsibility when I took on scoobynet.
The question is whether it will benefit the community...
the problem I see is that the picture idea requires the use of an unofficial "mod" to the BBS software. Which means there is no support and no guarantee that it will not cause some kind of problem.
I don't think it is worth the risk myself, but...
I am seriously planning the development of database driven version of scoobynet to improve performance, etc, so it may be something I'll try to include.
Cheers

My USD 0.02: I've seen thumbnail photos on boards but they're just not my cup of tea (BTW I drink coffee). I'd prefer hyperlink(s) beneath the username pointing to photo(s). I like seeing a photo of a user or their ride but IMO thumbnail photos below the username are too small to show any detail. With hyperlinks, you're but one click away from seeing the photo; not too inconvenient.
Also, Simon's server is not the only box affected by the bandwidth issue. Consider the pipe between the ScoobyNet and the end user (ya know, the bloke running the browser . I live just outside of Washington, DC (not exactly the wilderness) and many areas still can't get a fat pipe like cable or DSL. And pity the hapless souls that live outside a metropolitan area.
Just another opinion. You do care what the Yanks think, right?
..Mike Smith . No, the other one.
