Hi,

According to Autocar, Prodrive have won a major contract with FHI to conduct a major re-styling exercise on the Impreza.

This IS NOT the same as the Prodrive-style mods available on the UK STI, as all new sheet metal will be produced for everything apart from the doors, rear bumper and glasshouse (i.e. the entire front and rear ends excluding the rear bumper).

The facelift models are apparently scheduled to appear in 2003.

Cheers,

Alex

I read that too, Alex.

All those buying current cars must be a bit miffed, mind you who's to say the new version won't be as bad??

Some may say Peter Stevens leaving was a bad thing (22B/P1 designer ), but then again he did style the UK300

I shall wait with eager anticipation...

The 22b was styled by a chap who did the Vaux Nova (you can see the same style arches).

Surely 2003 is naturally when the MY01 shape gets a facelift anyway... I guess the new car would appear at the Tokyo show mid 2003 and appear in Europe for Motorshow season - Oct/Nov 2003, in time for the MY04. I wouldn't be too worried, remember the 1st model was launched in the UK with MY94 and facelifted for MY97 with another visual update for MY99, but minor changes (almost?)every year... Why should we expect the new shape to be any different?

Cool

my dogs last turd was a new shape from the last one, but i wouldnt want to buy it
seriously, subaru might as well do the deed, now the word is out. what have they to lose? is this why the new sti is so cheap? to get rid of the ugly duckling before prodrive create a swan in 2003?

Ps. I am warming up to the new shape 3" lower, 18" wheels, Big wing and Morrettes ( not the Subaru ones )

As long as the new styling isn't done by Stevie Wonder it should be an improvement.

Without weeing on anybody's bonfire. Haven't Prodrive got enough to do? Aren't they supposed to win Subaru the World Rally Championship or something? Erm.............................

They are not a car manufacturer. How are they going to cope with "facelifting" every Impreza car imported into the UK (a la P1 restyle)? WITHOUT SIGNIFICANTLY affecting the price?

Can't see what benefit FHI (or Prodrive for that matter)get from this. This introduces another 3rd party into potential warranty "argument"

See also assorted threads on P1 paint (esp front spoiler) quality.

Exclamation

Well lets hope they don't do it that soon, otherwise all us MY'01/02 owners will have a car that is either going to be a collectors item or a huge loss in depreciation (again)

Personally, with morettes and a bit of body kit, I reckon the MY'01/02 looks very aggressive..

Adam,
Peter Stevens did indeed design the bodywork on the 22B.
