Thumbs up

At the time it was a revolution in both interior space and driveability. The majority of cars on the road in those days were rear wheel drive. The 1100 had front wheel drive and was fantastic in the snow. I remember returning from my depot in London to where I lived at that time in Bedfordshire and we had had a right old covering. Most cars were stranded by the road skidding aimlessly into the verge. I sailed past in my trusty Austin 1100. Funny you mention driving one today I had the chance at a recent Road Haulage Federation Classic Truck Rally (including a classic car hill climb) I sat in one and by jove, I couldn't bring myself to start up the ruddy thing! It was like going back in time. Thanks for asking

Anyway - back on topic please....

It all started way back in 1991. The cars I've had in 16 years.

1. Subaru 1.8 Pick UP 2WD
2. Metro 1.3 Van
3. Fiesta 1.3 Super Sport
4. Golf 1.3 Driver
5. Cavalier 1.8 SRi
6. Nova 1.5 TD
7. Polo 1.3 Shopping Trolley
8. AX 1.4 GT
9. 405 1.6 GL
10. 405 1.9 GTX Estate
11. 405 1.9 SRi
12. BMW 325i E30
13. Sierra XR4x4 2.8i
14. Calibra 2.0 16v
15. Astra 1.8 GTE
16. MG Metro 1.3
17. Astra 2.0 GTE
18. Fiesta 1.6D Van (Starting Owning Bikes)
Honda NC24 VFR400R
Honda NC29 CBR400R
Kawasaki ZX7R
Honda Fireblade CBR900R
Kawasaki ZX7R
Honda CBR600FX
Yamaha YZF600R
19. Astra 1.8 GSi
20. Nova 1.3 SR
21. Metro 1.3 L
22. Astra 2.0 GTE 16v
23. AX GT 1.4 (Another)
24. Sierra XR4x4 2.9i
25. Expert 1.9 TD Van
26. Astra 1.6 Arctic
27. Peugeot 206 GTi
28. MR2 Turbo
29. Focus 1.8 TDCi 115
30. Celica GT4 ST205
31. Impreza V7 STi (Now)

With a brace of staging cars to go along with them like 1.3 Lada Riva's (I think I wrecked 3 of them, one was quicker than an Mk2 XR2 which was so much fun, especailly when my Lada would go fully sideways on the lock stops ) Mk1 Astra's (Wrecked 2 and sold 3 ) an old Mitsubushi Londsdale and not forgetting my Tolbat Sunbeam 1.6 Rally car I built/restored to near prestine condition. Quicker than a Lotus Sunbeam to 80 mph but run out of gears at 100mph

I've had a few cars and the most fun car I've owned was my XR4x4 2.8i simply because it had loads of trick bits on it like short shift, quick rack, filter, straight through exhaust from the manifold koni's all round and sounded beautifull. Mind, I haven't started modding the Impreza yet
