Default What state should you sell a scoob???

Ok, i'm not selling my car yet, but i am POSSIBLY thinking of, due to cost of insurance and fuel. Fuel especially, as i do a lot of miles.

I'm going to buy a Suzuki GSX-R600 and possibly then will end up selling the scoob. Then in a few years when i'm a bit older, get a WRX or something. When i'm an old man who gets a sensible price from the insurance man.

Question is, what state would get me the most money?! Do tint's take money off a car in general? Should i put the original exaust back on, should i replace th wrx bonet with the spot bonet as standard?? (it is only an impreza sport you see).

I have done nothing else to the car but these 3 things and just don't know whether they will make a difference to the price of the car?

John.

my tuppenceworth is to put the car back as standard and sell the mods separately. The mods on the car may increase it's value to a fellow enthusiast if they share the same tastes. The mods are more likely to devalue the car to a non-enthusiast buyer.

You could put the car back to standard and offer the mods to the buyer even.

Few non-specialist dealers will see value in the mods - ask for an offer with or without! I did on my last trade-in and sold the mods separately and made an extra £2K nearly. The dealer just didn't want them.

I personally wouldn't buy a car modded by someone else after seeing the methods used by others (not aimed at your modding skills!!) - such as using an angle grinder to cut a 35mm hole in the chassis for an intercooler mod because he couldn't be arsed to wait until the following day to get a holesaw

HTH.

BTW - if you find this cheap insurance man you crave, let me know where he is

Mods are bad news when trying to sell in 99% of cases - the other 1% is where someone knows the car and is happy that it has been done right and buys on that basis.

Mods just give out the wrong signals to prospective buyers, we ALL want that elusive 'driven by a granny car' in our dreams ....... they are as rare as hens teeth.

Why not try selling it with the mods first then remove should you get no interest, after all a unmodded Scooby is more than likely one that was modded but returned to standard, untouched cars are as common as unicorns playing poker.

I couldnt sell my well modded scoob so i put the entire car back to standard form (well just a couple of things to do) then going to advertise it as a standard car, apart from the MY99-00 facelift. As other have said sell the mods seperately and lower the asking price on the car

IMO I'd take all mods off, return to standard and sell mods on - especially if you have the standard items to replace them with.

OK you won't get anything back for the tints, but a OE looking car will appeal to a wider market - also you'll make more money selling the mods on

TBH, ad leave the glass, you wont gain anything by removing it, and if its legal, you cant really loose from it.

As for the bonnet, ad sell it on if you have your origional, you will only end up having to scrap the origional if you dont, might as well get a couple of quid for it.

Same with the exhaust, if you have the origional, there may well be a buyer for your system. Is it SS, does it have a warranty? is it loud?

if the answer to this is yes yes no, i may be tempted to leave it on as well

We're talking about a sport here though. So i'm sure there's plenty of sport owners that would appreciate the mods.

Try it, if it doesn't sell, then revert to standard.
