Went to Powerstation yesterday to have Unichip fitted.

As everybody else has always said, the level of service is second to none. Rich and Dirk are superb always showing interest in the car and keen to explain what they were doing as they went along.

After having the new Scoobymania twin dump exhaust fitted i decided to go all the way and get the ecu sorted.

The car is a V5 Type R. After the Unichip was fitted and Rich had programed in a SAFE map the car is producing the following:

283.0 bhp at 6370 rpm

264.0 lb/ft torque at 4350 rpm

So, i had a very entertaing drive home despite getting lost ( eh, Jase ). The car pulls so much stronger now, effortless power and fingers crossed reliability!

Also had the bumpsteer done, well thats another story hehehe!

What RON was the chip mapped for?
What BHP/torque figures were you gettiing before?
I may be interested you see.....

Aren't they about the figures you should get normally with your car and it's mods? Did you get a Unichip for reliablity rather than extra power then?
Probably a wise move.

Question

Interesting figures...

...one thing I find intriguing about STIs, and it may only be Vs, is that with an aftermarket ECU peak power comes much earlier, typically between 61-6300rpm. With the standard Jecs it is around 71-7300rpm.

Or, is this an artefact of the load profile of PS rollers?

Just a thought.

Also, regarding your 'after' figures, as Stef says they are 'standard', but I (LINK) much prefer my standard horses now, both in terms of driveability AND insurance.

As far as these figures are std, well, that is correct for this car running on 100 ron fuel as intende in Japan. So considering our poor fuel quality i`m chuffed to bits.

I asked Rich for a safe map, obviously for as much reliability as possible. The car has changed dramaticly since these mods.

Total cost for the Unichip, boost controller and bumpsteer was £834-25.

SO, when i get bored of this it will be a water injection and a bit more boost

The std 280 BHP that an STi put's out is for 100RON.. so I'd imagine that using 97RON is going to lose a good few BHP.

Therefore to be running on lower grade fuel and still have greater than standard BHP is "a good thing" IMO.

Bear in mind also, that the Powerstation figures are generally on the pessimistic side (which I personally prefer)
