90,000 mile service
#1
Although my car has only covered 56k the next due service is the 90,000 mile and since the car has a full service history despite being a 94 car recent threads suggest it may be worth maintaining it. Given the 90k service includes a cambelt change would should I expect to pay?
Are Adams in Aylesbury reasonable prices for servicing and if not who is a good Subaru main dealer within a reasonable distance?

Hey why you no ask local experts then? Call Dave West of Risborough 4WD on 01844 274652 and it'll cost you about £300 squids. The cambelt is £100 part on its own you know!

Tim,
So this guy will do a 90k service i.e. a 30k service and a cambelt change for 300 notes. Sounds a little cheap to me or is the 300 notes just for the cambelt change.
thanks

Why pay more? The guy used to work for a Subaru main dealer but the garage closed and he set up on his own. You have no warranty to keep up and he is fully trained. But by all means pay as much as you like. I wouldn't though.

No idea as I own one of those substandard (but much faster, better, higher spec etc etc) crummy Jap imports they call the WRX STi and they will not even sell me a bulb unless I give them a chassis number, let alone service it. Still their loss, I'll pay someone who will!

The reason Dave is cheaper than main dealers is because he charges about £30 hour labour instead of £65! He works off the standard Subaru menu pricing, ie if they say 4 hours for a major service he charges 4 hours (but at half the price).

My 90000 mile service was done at a main dealer, Barretts of Canterbury to be exact, and cost £487 WITH the SIDC 10% discount!! Actually it was £507 but they reimbursed me £20 for the air filter they replaced that I didn't need (despite all the stickers on the air box ). They did replace the other belt at the same time.
Sounds like £300 is a real bargain if he's that good....

Hi all,
I have just booked in for my 45K service with Dave West. It will be the third service with him and he has always been excellent.
He quoted me about 300 pounds for the service, including fitting a new fog light, replacing a leaky gasket and fixing a power steering leak!
Can't recommend him enough!!
Cheers,
Richard
