Yes if all of the bolts can be teased free. If not then its an absolute bast*rd and its a double b*stard when they shear!

Well, I just had to have a full exhaust system put on my classic. 50% of the bolts sheared on the turbo, and decent replacements are not cheap (don't fit rubbish ones).

Garage said that given the age of classics now, you have to be in the 10% of lucky people to get a turbo off without a bolt shearing. DIY job if you are mechanically minded (I am not), just bank on not being able to refit the new turbo unless you have access to some spare bolts, and the tools to re-tap the turbo once you drill out the ones that shear.

Surely, if you are replacing the Turbo you just junk the old one with the drilled out holes??

Not if you're rebuilding the turbo or fitting an exchange unit.

I sprayed the bolts with WD40 for 2 days straight at least 3 times a day before I did mine. All the bolts where fine.

I see, I did wonder about exchange ..... they won't accept it with drilled out holes then? But will accept one with 'oversize' tapped holes?
