Default Sending 4x wheels??

Anyone had to send out 4x wheels by courier before??

Just wondering what company you used, and what sort of price did you pay??

I only ask as most companies seem to have a 30kgs cut-off point. Does a set of 4x Alloy wheels (18") weigh more than 30kgs?? I have a feeling they might

(dont have them to hand so cant weigh etc..)

Cheers

Interparcel : Discount UK & International Parcel Delivery & Courier Services

I used these to post my 17" golf wheels. Cost about 30 odd quid I think. I used the scales from our bathroom and set them to KG to get the weight.

18" PFF7 rim weighs 8.5 kg, 03STi 17" std gold cast rim weighs 12.5 kg. This is without tyres which weigh about 9 kg.

So 4 light alloys will weigh 34 kg, you might have to send 2 parcels. I think weight limits are to prevent couriers hurting their backs.

replacement wheels for a kit car were sent to me a couple of years ago. were a bit scratched, so they went back again. make sure you protect them properly! also, wrap individually (and mark 1 of 4, 2 of 4, 3 of 4 etc) , not all four together - weight problem solved.

What do you wrap them in? I too may be sending some wheels at some point soon, but have no idea how to package them up.

I used a piece of round cardboard over the top cut at the edges to fold over the wheel lip and then a couple of layers of bubble wrap and plenty of brown parcel tape around the rim. I wrapped then up one at a time and marked them up as richardg states.

I blagged some alloy wheel boxes off revolution and used parcel2go.com marked as described.

Do you have an alloy wheel outfit nearby where you could ask for some discarded cardboard boxes ?

Are these for the £100 dare gold wheels.......bargain of the century LOL

I use these too, for everything. They run a titan service, for larger/heavier items.

Shaun,

Thanks guys, got a few good prices from the likes of PostVan/ParcelForce etc...

Have used Parcel2go before, but they want to add a surcharge of about £40 when I complete the online form!!!

The above service quoted me over £100 , think I will pass on using them

Will look into it abit more
