Whats all this about the superspecial not being ready in time? There is a small piece in this weeks motoring news, I think it was Mark Higgins if not him someone else, saying they had done 50 or 60 laps on it!!!

Sounds finished to me!!

OK so maybe those that paid for a seat will have to stand on a mud bank like the rest of us, but at least they'll know what a day in the forests is like as well then

Saw the stage last week and could not believe how little progress had been made. The whole place was like a mudbath. Grandstand construction had not even started. However I have heard that they have been working 24/7 on it so I dont know what it's like now. I'll try to get there tomorrow and have a look and let you know my findings.

Right, have you all got your wellies ready(no sheep jokes please) as it looks like you will need them.

Seriously though I am amazed just how much work has been done in the last ten days. Four grandstands are up and hospitality tents etc have also been erected.
Pity about the track surface though. Still much work needed, I just hope the weather holds out for the next few days so they can maybe tidy the place up a bit.

A lot of activity is also happening in the civic centre at the moment. All looks good for the weekend.

Chip,

Are we going to need our Scooby AWD systems to get us in and out of the car parks?

Hope So!!

Seriously, do you know if the parking is on hard standing or in the muck?

There is plenty of parking on the docks roads, but I dont know if these roads will be used due to the fact that Cardiff Docks is classed as a free port (whatever that means) so security is pretty tough, they dont like people wandering around. Therefore they might direct people to designated areas. I'll try to find out if they will let people in on foot via the Southern entrance. If they do it's only a short walk to the stage. I'll keep you posted.

Thumbs down

Well, I've just been to look at the SS and if you want muddy you're ok. As Chip said earlier, wellies are needed, make no mistake.

Lots of work still going on there 1:30pm today. Lights and PA's being rigged up, JCB's doing some digging etc.

They have laid down some gravel near the hospitality seats but there will be lots of mud from the gate to your seat anyway.

Me, I'm going to slum it out in the open part of the SS if I can get in! Conditions may well be worse than in the forests.

Enjoy!

They've moved in giant water pumps today to try to get rid of some of the water, otherwise Burnsey will be driving a Subamarine around the track.

Cheers

Makinen said last night that the surface of the super special was surprisingly hard - underneath all the mud . That the circuit was nice but not as fast as Australia.
