Heatshield and PPP
Finally got the PPP fitted today but noticed in the box of bits when I got home that the exhaust heatshield had not been refitted.I thought they had to trim and refit the heatshield or am I wrong.

I had this "issue" when I got my new uppipe/downpie. ( heatsheild not refitted)
Took advice on here ( and it was good advice by the way) & was to take it back & get the Heatsheild refitted.
( the engine bay was getting very hot)
When it was refitted, with bits shaved off, it went much better.
Advice, get them to do it!!

When i fitted my prodrive sports cat i spent quite alot of time trimming the shield to fit back nicely.I wont take my car to any garage due to quality of work offered. As the old saying goes if you want a job doing properly do it yourself.JAY

Though it had to be refitted - drove 100 miles home and when I lifted the bonnet could feel the heat coming from the exhaust/turbo.The exhaust is also rattling off the floor.Cant be arsed taking it all the way back down will get my cousin to put it on the ramp and have a look - is this an easy job to trim and refit.

YOU MUST refit it!! i didnt put mine on and when stopping at traffic lights the temps used to rise up to 50 C!!! i then put it back and now its around 30 max in traffic
then i wrapped the downpipe and now temps are in the 20s in hot weather and even in traffic its so much better
but at least re-fit it (triming should'nt be hard, did it with a cutter but that took a good hour hehe)
i think u would need only 2 bolts as u would have 2 cut the lower one (not 100% sure how many i cut off)

Put the heatshield back on this morning had to trim a fair bit away for the wider neck of the new downpipe but got the five bolts in.Worst bit was putting the intercooler back on - obviously there is a nack to this that I couldnt suss.Just got to get it on the ramp tomorrow and stop the exhaust from hitting now.

Just see whats around the area above your turbo, that heat shield is there for a reason, on the classics it was to stop you boiling your clutch fluid (think thats what was above it) as your clutch became quite heavy in standing traffic...

Notice a big difference from standard it just keeps pulling.Lot of money but for me the warranty/insurance issues are more important than another 20bhp and when it comes to selling it I know myself I would not buy a car that had non approved engine mods.Does take a bit of time to trim and refit the heatshield but for the money you are charged this should be done.
