Yup i know its a frequently asked question but.......
there are now 2 more scoobs near where i live, i drive the sonic blue W reg, there is the sonic blue older version....!! and the black wrx k reg. first to the k reg driver if you use this forum, yup im the guy from the garage that you were getting fuel from and i hope its super or else say good bye to that engine!! and why didnt you really acknowledge me for saying that you had a nice car??? and for the sonic blue car, yup the one at the end of my road, hey you can flash your lights and give me a wave sometimes too, yup i know you waved but it took me to flash you first!! this use to be a very executive club but it seems i get more waves from rs owners now than scoob owners ps the guy in the P1 at bredbury going to stockport last saturday, lovely motor!!!
give us some support guys, i know its nice to see the odd friendly wave, especially the guy last weekend in the red wrx on the M62 cheers!! and what a lovely spoiler!!!

It seems waving / flashing is out of fashion as very few drivers seem to do this now. Totally different to the Spring / Summer this year when I was getting waves from Sports and Legacies too !!

It's always been a bit of a bugbear for me too.

Unfortunately around MK, they seem to be particularly miserable, and some appear to be driven by the strangest looking people.

I'm always up for a wave, or a quick flash!, but what really pees me off is that the only time I see a fellow P1 owner, I seem to be in a courtesy car or the Wife's Yaris, so I get ignored.

But on a more serious note, I think the waves are in a bit of a decline because of the number of Scoobs out there. The 'clubby' feeling has dwindled somewhat. In the same way that bikers don't seem to acknowledge each other as much as they used to.

Josh, in MK you can't take your hands off the wheel to wave - too many roundabouts!

I think it must be the weather - no one seems to flash as they have their lights on already and no one waves as the are sat on their hands trying to keep them warm

Legacies seem to ignore me but I sometimes get smiles from an old red Subaru pickup.

It was the same back in the 60's and 70's with fellow Lotus owners not flashing - I think some are so stressed out with the driving, they keep their eyes closed (- it works for me).

Yeah,

I always used to wonder why scooby owners don't wave etc.

The I realised, when seeing a MY99 silver with 22b spoiler, 17in wheels etc, it took me so long to check out his spec that we had passed each other and the 'wave' moment had gone.

Next time you see another scoob, I bet you look first for:- colour, rear wing, wheels, modded exhaust, and then wave, but it is too late he has gone!

Quite right.

Such traditions are important - for instance caravanners used to wave at each other!

wrx.co.uk has a point though. You do tend to check ou the spec and then they are gone.

What is the advert on the tv, the motorcyclists who wave at each othe as they pass on a mountain bend and then one gets into something - is it a Focus, and he waves again when he passes the same motorbike but gets no response.

Lets get flashing and waving. Most of us have bought this damn car because we are enthusiasts so lets behave as such.

I agree about more waving and flashing. And to be fair whenever I see an English Subaru over here they always flash. There is an element of snobbery though from Impreza turbo drivers who will not flash a sport.Alan are you sure you werent imagining it when a legacy driver actually bothered to acknoweldge another Subaru?

I try and wave when i get chance the trouble is most of my journey are on dual carriageways at national limits so closing speed is normally 140mph for on coming cars. It doesnt give you much chance to wave .

I have been waved and flashed by evo and a very impressive escort mark 2 which I now wave and flash when I see it.

Even got a wave from a P1 owner going to donington and I only have a lowly import .

cheers

Owning a scoob is a bit like owning a bike, you don't just get the car you get the whole community thing. Bikers always used to nod and wave as they went past each other; it's kind of acknowledging someone else like you that has the same kind of hobby. That's starting to disappear now as bikes (and Scoobies) become more popular and more available, you no longer get just the enthusiast buying them you get other people buying them because of reasons other than passion....

When I got my P1 in September, I waved or flashed lights at everyone in a scooby. About 10% reciprocated, so I started giving up.

Today, though Hockliff, I passed a red Impreza who flashed. I was half asleep, so I apologise for not waving, but at least MrsKurtW did. It made my day!

I'll start waving / flashing lights again if it makes you all feel better.

Lets get this thing going again.

Regards
Kurt - X plate P1WR, Milton Keynes.

Josh - hope to see you around. Are you going to the next Aylesbury meet?

The first day I drove my MY95 WRX to work (only a few weeks ago)_I got a flash from another scooby and then from a cossie which gave me a really nice feeling. So I make a point of waving or flashing other scoobies.

I pass a Pulsar GTI-R on the way to work sometimes and we exchange glances but I will make sure I wave next time. Also had fun with a Skyline GTR (reg is V SPEC !) the other morning.

You seem to get repsect from a lot of car users, especially those with powerful or modded cars. I also find lots of boy racers sit right up close to kind of let you know they are there. A Calibra 16 V (reg A 16V ..)did it to me today and overtook me in the crappiest place just to get in front of me. I was like.. 'Oh dear'..

But on the whole it is a superb feeling driving my car anywhere

I always wave and flash over here in Ireland. When in the Uk a few weeks back i couldn't believe the amount of Scooby's.

Still a bit of an exclusive club over here. I travel about 500 miles per week and might see one once a week or so :-(

Keep up the flashing!!!

Surely this is not a major issue!

Just cause someone doesn't wave, flash or acknowledge you!

if that is all you live for I feel depply sorry for you

H,

I don't think anybody is saying this is 'a major issue' or will be losing sleep over it, just that it's an extra nicety of owning a scoob and it gives you a nice feeling to know that there are other like minded enthusiasts who drive the same car/type of car as you.
Obviously there are none enthusiasts who drive these cars who 'just don't get it' and probably scoff at others who do wave/flash, there loss if you ask me.

Edinburgh must be a 'no waving zone'.

Everytime I see another Scooby, I wave like a lunatic.

No one waves back

If you're in Edinburgh and you see a silver MY00 4 door with a pink nose badge and a half-wit waving at the wheel - please wave back!

Rich,
Maybe it is just central Scotland cos Glasgow is the same, I have not been waved at by another Scooby owner in the 5 months I have had the car.
NB I got let out of a junction in Edinburgh by a BMW driver just over a week ago, which makes that a more common occurrence.
Not often through your way, but if I see you I will be sure to wave.
