Question

Folks,

Any help appreciated here.
I know if I get it De catted with will push out more power but will fail the MOT. Is it a pain in the **** to re-fit for the MOT and how much would it cost to put back on.
Is it worth changing the down pipe as well and what are the costs/implications of doing this.
Which will I be penalised most with for insurance/warranty?
How much more power should I expect?
Will the exhaust note be better?

Cheers

Jas

As it's a WR then it is already a decat centre section so you are talking about changing the downpipe to totally decat. It will become noiser, but not dreadfully. If you want a better exhaust note (deeper) then change the PPP backbox for Scoobysport/TSL/Scoobymania etc.
To pass the MOT after decatting you will need either a dodgy MOT station or a cat re-fitting. Re-fitting the downpipe is an hour and a half job at alot of dealers, so a bit pricey if you are swapping it back and forth. You can also source a catted or double catted centre section which is 10 mins to fit and will get u thru MOT's.
Hope that helped.

Question

Chuck

Double catted section not seen one of those before. Looking at full decat on the MY01 so would be interested on where to get one of these for MOT's.

Cheers

I too have a standard RB5 WR but have been out in KIMA's RB5WR with a decat downpipe. It was certainly noiser but not to bad although the standard PPP jet noise had changed at the top end. The car did feel quicker especially on low down spool up.

Anyone have any views on sportcat downpipe and will this alone pass the MOT and views on performance compared with standard downpipe and full decat.

Thanks

David

Hi Guys!

As Druddle said I have a RB5 WR with a full decat system....

Excellent mod - have had a Prodrive and Scoobysports BB.. and I prefer the Scoobysport - simply because its deeper and louder! The Prodrive back is as loud at peak and goes nice and quiet if poodleing.... good for neighbourhood @ night! but I don't care, so nice and loud for me!

Chuck is right.... find a dodgy MOT station and they maynot even re fit a cat.. just use another car for the test in stead... for a small price of course!

You will find you notice a performance difference with the downpipe, it will become more torqy and responsive and will sound great!

Do it you wont regret it!

If you need more help or advice mail me!
