Default Help !...Handling Problem.

Hi,

I've got a MY05 WRX 300 and just had my front & rear pads & brake fluid upgraded (mintex xtreme & dot 4) as I'm going to do my 1st (novice!) track day at Brands later this week.

Since I got my car back the steering just doesn't feel quite right, it feels twitchy particularly at lower speeds e.g. 20 - 30 mph.

Any suggestions as to what might have happened/gone wrong ?

Thanks,

Simon

bit odd, seeing that only the pads have been changed! But i'll have a go; check tyre pressures, check wheel nuts are tight, and; if you have uni-directional tyres, that they are all going the correct way.

About all I can think of. do you have any vibration at higher speeds, and are the disks consistantly shiney across the face?

Could be chunky new pads causing a caliper to stick a bit??? I had new rear pads after running the old ones practically to nothing and I got a bit of rubbing when cornering at low speeds. Soon sorted itself out with a bit of use.

Thanks,

It's just wierd as the handling has been great until now (have prodrive springs, 18" wheels/bridgestone potenzas) but now it's just not quite right.

I'll check the pressures, nuts & tyre direction. There is a bit of a noise from the rear when I'm cornering at low speeds, but at higher speeds the twitchiness isn't as evident (thankfully!).

wot he said, if you have noise then could be a pad not fully retracting and catching the disk(s)

I would put money on the tyres not being back on the right way/hub

Regadless of what this turns out to be, a set of rear droplinks and adj roll bar will really go a long way to sorting out the handling. Only cost you around £150 delivered and a piece of pi55 to diy fit..!

IMHO, rear drop links and roll bar are one of the biggest handling mods that can be made to newage (WRX blobs anyhow). As far as value for money, it has to be one of the best..!

Has your fluffy dice fell off your interior mirror and lodged itself in the steering column ?

Thats usually the cause of the problem you have.
