For everyone that has been put off importing a car from Europe, due to the 1 yr warranty, read on:

All EU imports will now get a standard minimum 2yr manufacturers warranty from Jan 2002.

This legislation also makes the retailer legally bound to fixing defects within the first 2 yrs, and under the new legislation, a serious, persistant problem gives the consumer the right to a replacement car even after the 2yrs is up.

So exercise your right to a cheaper WRX and get importing.......

I think this will apply to mostly all 'consumer goods' type products sold in the EU and not just cars.

All VAG group, BMW & I think Mercs bought in Europe form 1st November come with 2 year pan-Euro warranties already.

I can see UK dealers of all makes getting very little trade as this becomes general knowledge!
