Default Corrosion on alloys

The alloys on my WRX 05 are rusting despite me keeping them clean. Anyone had this sorted under warranty?

What do you use to clean them?
I have been warned that 'wonder wheels' eventually eats away and makes your alloys rust

Go to your main dealer (you never use wheel cleaner..!) and spit your dummy out, they usually sort something out..

If not try another dealer..

Thanks, I am going in the morning as I have a couple of other issues with a rattling back window and squeeky clutch pedal!

The corrosion is just on the spokes from brake dust I imagine but It is poor for a 20k car. Anyone else had an issue, I seem to remember someone getting all 4 replaced under warranty? Will go in and cause a scene!

Japenese alloys are not the best. You are not the first to have an issue with them. Keep your cool, demand that they sort them

Make sure you stay away from wonder wheels after you`ve had them done, will have an effect on them in the long term...

When you get your new ones, treat them to a coat of quality wheel wax such as THIS from new and every 6 months.

I agree with this.I personally use the Poorboys wheel sealant every 6 weeks or so though and occasionally put some Autoglym Super Resin Polish on before it as well.Brings them up a treat and a doddle to wash next time around.

As far as warranty issues go your wheels are covered by the 3yr / 60k miles malarky so shouldn't be a problem.as said above though, don't mention the cleaner ,just tell them you seal them.

Wife's car (MR2) has had all 4 wheels replaced 3 times in the last 3 years at every service. As said above Jap wheels = Rubbish.

Thanks for the assistance. The dealer took digital photographs and is forwarding them to Subaru for an authorisation to proceed with the work. Will wait and see what happens. The dealer seemed to accept them as defective so it ended up being a friendly experience.

I have never used wonder wheels by the way but will defo use the wax in future.

Is this all wheel cleaners or just Wonder Wheels?

On the whole replace under warranty bit - My dads S2000 had the same problem, dealer took photos, replaced all 4 and treated them for him
Hopefully Subaru have a similar policy
