The best and most brutal way IMHO would be to push the diff into red and dump the clutch at 4kish revs. Something I never did when I had DCCD cars I may add.

I always lock the diff fully, rev to 5-6k and drop the clutch winding the diff back to fully open once rolling works for me every time

i thought that would be the best way but then should you fiddle with the diff once the car is moving??? and you cant leave the diff on full lock whilst driving can you???

You can move the DCCD around when driving. Pushing to yellow and red makes lots of noises when doing parking manouvers or you may feel skip when you turn the wheels in cornering. It should be fine if going in a straight line, perfect for the strip.

Do a search, there's literally tonnes of info on DCCD here.

I was given a tip once about launching 4wd cars...basically so that you dont kill the transmission you need to hold the car on the handbrake and lift the clutch so that its biting slightly.
Then when you do launch, because the play has been taken out of the transmission it doesnt cause as much stress when the power hits it...if you see what i mean?

If you want to help the transmission out just launch hard enough to spin the wheels a little.

As for what revs to launch at that depends on your spec and most importantly if you have a lightweight flywheel or not.

I have rigged my dccd (5 speed V5 trans from a Type R) so that there is a momentary switch on the left spoke of the steering wheel.
At a start of a race stop, select 1st and press the switch. The switch is wired to switch the dccd to fully locked (Red above).
Revs/dump the clutch and go for 2nd.
This then releases the switch while the hand is on tis way to the gear lever, and the dccd moves to a pre-selected position, ie gree/amber
And off the 3rd etc etc.

Going to be racing in 2 weeks time so will report back.

These make wheelspin hard to get:

if they make wheelspin hard does that not mean it will smash your gear box easier ???

Only if i try to make wheel spin.
The main purpose of the slicks is not the start but the corners/braking.
A 1/10 or two lost on the start will be gained 5 times over in the course of a hillclimb due to the cornering ability.
