About 3 weeks ago I took my car to Bell & Colvill for its 7500 mile service. Now as you might expect I was slightly annoyed to be charged £142.61 for this.

At least you got a refund. A lot of car dealers would just stay silent and pocket the extra money.

J-D,

Thats very interesting, unfortunately I doubt I will get my money back, as I a) no longer have the receipt and b) the MY00 car in question..

Begs the question, what did people pay for the 1000 mile service??

My P1 is 3500 miles off its 7500, who to take it too..???

Rgds, Alex

PS. still havent got any news on my spoiler

Cool

Alex

Seeing as you are based in Guildford - you're not a million miles from Cheam Motors (West Ewell). Give Steve Lawson a call. Details at

It's a difficult one - B+C charge a bit more, but then they pick my car up, drop it back and give it a clean - all services the slightly cheaper Cheam motors do not do. Having said that Steve Lawson is a good man.

One other thing though - when I had the PIAA driving lights replacement B+C quoted me £100 more than prodrive reckon it should be - so I went to Cheam. I then complained to B+C and they were supposedly horrified (investigated it apparently) and then agreed they would of course have done it for the lower price !

This is what I hoped would happen!! Seems that B&C quote one price and immediately lower it if you query it in any way.

I was just interested how many people had been charged £140 for a 7500 mile service as in the letter they sent me they are telling me it was a mistake and that I had been charged the wrong hourly rate which implies it was a one off....... (No I don't believe that either!)

Oh don't let them wash your car either as they do a crap job and I noticed scratches on the rear wing and wing mirror.

I think I may tackle them on this subject when I pop up there for the rear spoiler to be replaced...

Cheers for the update J-D.

Alex,

I am probably going to be at Box Hill on Saturday so I will come over and say hello (My car is the DBM W*** PPD). Wish I picked up the letter this morning as I could have OCR'd it and posted it here. Definitely worth a read for humour value alone!

I'll look out my 7500 service, as coming up for the 15000 soon. I'll be there on Saturday too.

Alex - you still waiting for the wing ?

Thumbs up

Darren,

Cool, will see you Saturday then, mine is P1 (STi stylee spoiler) X*** BPA.. my last Impreza was DBM and W*** PPD, wish I could have kept it, but that proved to be too greedy and expensive (insurance exceed 6K for the both of them each year).. DBM is still one of the best colours they come in, think I still prefer it to SBM..

Alex

Derek and Maria,

Yes Bell and Colvill are an official dealer and the breakdown of the 7500 mile service was as follows

Carry out 7,500 mile service = £74.25
Oil Filter = £10.11
Gasket = £0.71
Screenwash = £1.99
Super Lube = £1.99
Oils Used = £26.32
Sundry Items Used = £6.00

Vat = £21.24
TOTAL = £142.61

The service only takes an hour so I assume they charged me £74.25 for an hours work. (I obviously use work in the loosest sense as it only takes 20 ninutes to change the oil and filter). I got a refund of £45 as soon as I queried this price (Most other dealers charge around £98 for this service).

Question

Have you decided who you are going to use??

I'm using Mill Lane at the moment, and can't fault the service.

I'd probably go to Cheam Motors, if Mill Lane pissed me off!!!

Just wondered!
