Front tyres 01 WRX bugeye
I need some fronts badly (due to a little excursion on the track) and have Pirelli P Zeros on the back (as from when purchased).
Any recommendations for good all round weather/wear (& 255 bhp)?
Many thanks as always.....

Another vote for the T1-R's. Good all round ability and good wear rate. Done over 19k with plenty of tread left on mine. I don't drive like a tart and have over 300 brake on tap - Deffo have some more

Cheers everyone, I'll have a word with our local Toyo dealer and see how I get on...... BTW Brun, glad to hear it, we have enough 'tarts' on our roads as it is ;-)

Those p zero nero hero Pirellis are just fine... Go for a matching set ... I did and I havent skidded off the road to my doom once
I get lots of miles out of them and they do not slide about and I pump them up once a month and more often than not they dont need pumping up because they stay pumped up.
I find that on black ice they are a little skiddy though, but I just fit tennis rackets to them in cold conditions
Pirelli are nice and good... You knows it

I'm not too sure about using different tyres on the front / back surely the same tread pattern on all 4 corners is better ? I've been using F1 GSD3's ever since I wore out the OE's and can highly recommend them, especially in the wet. They are very grippy, which also has its downside - I push the car more and end up wearing them out quicker !

Although I think the Toyo T1R is a great choice, I'd be inclined to stick with 4 tyres of the same tread pattern on a Scoob. My WRX had 3 different brands of tyres on it when I got it and it handled like a Capri !

So are we saying that if you put 4 x £100 tyres of different makes on a Subaru Impreza the car will not grip well and "handle like a capri"?
I guess if one races on a track I could see it shaving a half second off or the likes, but such a dramatic impact on normal legal road driving????
I would need some convincing...
To be honest (and please dont take this the wrong way - if there are any tyre geeks out there), but I think this follows the same path as the 'experts' of the "which petrol", "knocklink", thread brigade...
You buy a car with tyres on it... Say Continentals... Drive round for 20,000 miles and then notice they are worn. You put some highly recommended brand new Toyo tyres on and notice a better grip... No **** sherlock, you've been driving round on wearing tyres for months
The only time I ever really noticed a difference is when I put some Kelly Remoulds on my 1.1 escort in 1993... They were slippy in the wet
Each to their own, but as long as its a reliable brand and you dont drive on the roads like a tw@t or race on a track it wont make a chip o **** o difference

I agree Abdabz - i've used loads of different tyres on various cars - the one and only time that any of them (with plenty of tread) felt dodgy, was using P-Zero's on the Scoob in the wet.
The reason i stick with Toyo's is that they are reasonable price with a decent wear rate and feel pretty good in the wet or dry. Maybe the F1's are better tyres, but i do feel it is at the expense of wear rate

I had Yoko's on AVS Sports and they were pants in the wet even with slightly spirited driving. Push it a bit and you would end up facing the way you came. (happened)
Fitted 4 Toyo's and improvement well worth the £400.

I've been happy with the Eagle F1 GSD3s, just make sure you get the 91Y load rating. Have found 215/45 ZR17s for £78/corner (fitted) which I'll probably be getting fitted shortly. Only downside is that ultimately, they will wear out the outside shoulder if used hard lots; geometry will help that though!
However, I'm a believer in the concept of changing all 4 tyres at the same time so as not to have more front (or rear) grip which will unbalance the car. Also if you have say worn tyres on the front and new on the back, the front-rear balance will change when it rains. To get the life, just swap the front tyres with the back ones half way through the tyre's life.

I just get lost on the science behind 3 different makes of quality tyre adversely affecting handling to the point of risk in normal driving conditions. I admit though my thoughts are speculative and the only thing I am a doctor in is lurrrrrve , not tyres, or any form of rubber commodity
