Default Subaru Diesel

Having had a quick look on the Subaru UK website, the diesel is getting unveiled to day in Geneve. 1015 this morning to be precise!

So, when will the speculation start It's crap, hot version, better than blah blah blah

Should be a good competition for the VAG TDi motors.

Although the Subaru Diesels may appeal more to the older generation, unless they do a WRX STI PPP-D

You might have already seen this but i found this earlier....

Also talking about it being a boxer...
Not only does this eliminate the need for a balancer shaft which counters uneven combustion pressures and general roughness, but Subaru's first diesel is as compact as its petrol sisters and combines unusually strong pulling power at low engine speeds with high-rev throttle-response.

It's a press release photo, I saw a copy of the release at a dealer a couple of weeks back. I guess any site mentioning it will have the same photo, pity they've all got the same marketing guff and no real info!

I'm guessing that this new engine will appear in most of the current Subaru range (Impreza, Legacy, Forester), over the next few years as it will open up a much bigger market place for Subaru.

I wonder if they will produce a performance version of the Impreza with a diesel engine (new Impreza later this year perhaps ?), to compete with the Golf and Leon etc ?
