Exclamation

Check with your garage for what they put in it originally, but I'd guess it will be the 10W40 as the 5W30 is too thin.

Just to be absolutely sure, phone your servicing garage and get them to tell you exactly what they used...

Thumbs down

If it's gone white, that normally means that water has got in somehow. Not good, worth getting it checked out by your dealer.

That white goo is mayonaisse. tastes great in ya sarnies. While you're at tesco's getting the ham though, might as well pick up a new head gasket.

I would concur with the above, White and Gooey mess in the oil is a classic symptom for head gasket failure. Is your car putting out a lot of white smoke through the exhaust too? Best to get it checked ASAP.

I use Castrol RS 10-60, which was as recommended by several of those in the know, other recommended oils were 15-50 fully synthetic.
