Question

I've had a search through the old posts, but can't come to any conclusions about carbon fibre dashes.

Does anyone have a carbon fibre dash (fake or real)??? In a MY99 UK car???

How much was the kit? And are you happy with it??

Don't want to cover old ground, just want to decide once and for all whether to get one!

Thanks
Andy

I can't believe this....have just spent the
last 4 days haggling with my local motorsports shop about returning a d*** d******* carbon kit which when fitted looked like the biggest pile of cr@p you have ever seen.
If the intention is to cover certain areas
of the dash then you would've thought that
the kit would cover all the bits but for example the airvent part was 1/2 the width
of the plastic. End result = obviously stuck
on & very tacky looking.
The picturs they provide state "Moulded"-IT ISN'T
You would be better getting a sheet of carbon fibre & cutting it out yourself!!!
Subaru do a proper kit but only in wood effect and i'm not 60!!!

I have a carbon dash on my Sti4 - I think it came fitted from the factory.
The fit is great & it doesn't look like its just stuck on (which it is) Livens up the dash no end.

Brew.

Sunil,

Why the wait?? You have everyone believe you have pot loads of cash.... I mean a man who can afford to keep 3 different ECU's???!!!!

Am I being silly, but wouldn't a majority of the Forester carbon dash fit the Impreza??

Just a thought!! I mean what's £500-odd for a bit of carbon???!!!!!

I dunno if you have the my01 over there yet but subaru officially do a carbon dash for the new car, with thing like carbon gear *** and handbrake. Also on the official option list is steering column boost gauge and the three gauge pod as seen on STIs.The out going model was a bit neglected with regard to acceseries.

when i purchased my car from holland, the dealer provided me with an impreza accessorie
'brochure'. this includes a "carbon panel kit" (also a wooden one!), dont know if its 'real' though? i've got the part numbers
and (dutch) prices, if anybody wants them let me know. there's also a rather snazzy 'gauge pack' with altitude, outside temperature and compass - just in case you get lost !!!

Andy, money isnt the issue, time is, also my new dash needs to be fitted first under warranty. Wont be done until the new year.

Once again Kevin 2000 comes up with the useless suggestion of a MY01 dash kit!. The question asked was for a MY99, Nitos kit is reworked replacement panels NOT stick on. Also the STI kit is available for MY99/00 but it contains less parts and certain areas such as the radio surround obviously wont fit a UK car.

Hi Guys,

Scott, those codes are for all facelift Impreza cabins 98-00. The prices for those parts quoted works out at over £470 and that's without the gearknob and handbrake grip, shipping and import duties taxes etc. The parts are carbon effect re-worked in the same way as those veneer panels you see on many cars. In it's most basic form, a special type of film is floated and applied in a water tank and then trimmed and laquered over. It's a little more complex than this but that's how it's essentially done.

The kit Sunil mentions is re-worked in exactly the same manner as the STi kits and are of the same if not better quality than the STi offerings and the range covers many more interior panels (earlier model Imprezas are also covered) as well as quite a few other interior accessories available for the Impreza and Forester including chromed gearlever surround gates with leather gaitors etc.

Regards
Nito
