If you drive through a GATSO above the speed limit and it doesn't flash does that mean it hasn't got you. I came out of a 60 into what i thought was a 40mph limit and went past a speed camera, the guy behind me anchored on which made me think it might be a 30mph limit. Its not a road I've used before and was on my way to work (couldn't go back and look) so i'm not sure where the speed limits change. Any answers on this would be appreciated.

I think you'll be ok.I was under the impression that they have to flash twice to be considered 'live'.But there's always the possibility that it was a 40mph limit anyway.

Thanks for the reply's. The annoying thing is that i was only in my L reg 1.1 5 door fiesta! I use it to save money going to work and back, if i was in the impreza i would have been on the M6 instead of the country lanes and wouldn't have gone past it. I thought the same as you but just wanted to check.

also depends on what they set the limit to on the gatso
it can go from 33-39 mph or its out of service

I think most Gatso's have no film in them even if they do flash. Reading is littered with the damn things and I see many without the bulb in. I reckon you are fine if you saw no flashes (it definately needs 2 flashes to estimate your speed). If you were unlucky - 40 in a 30 would be the 60quid fine and 3 points.

Yeah I know mate. In honesty though the lanes are ****e (after all we only pay £200 a year for the condition of em) and the impreza is really low with no give in the suspension so its not such a nice journey coming back off nights. The fiesta is like driving a matress so its not so bad when your knackered.

At what point in the thread did i say i was gullible? Bored are we?
