wagon or saloon?????????????????????
Hi
I've been looking at wagons and saloons today my07.
How do people find wagons the back seats look very upright were as the saloon rear seats look as they would in any other car. Are the wagon rear seats comfortable for long journeys? just thinking of the kids.
I've heard that the wagon used sale price is a lot lower than the saloon is this the case? i'm finding it very hard to find used wagons.
I am looking at new but would appriciate people pointing me towards used web sites. The ones I've looked at are.
Here
piston heads
parkers
autotrader
Cheers.

Wagons 'used' to be cheaper secondhand than the Saloons, but not now.
The saloons are the ones more likely to be 'chavved-up' and modified and have been suffering a massive loss in value as a result.
The Wagons are the ultimate wolf-in-sheeps-clothing and as such appeal to the more discerning buyer. Wagons are annonymous when parked 'nose-in' in a Car Park and therefore much less of a target for scumbags.
The Saloons are looking distinctly 'Very 1990's' now - they have had their day, the rise of the Wagon is upon us.
I don't think the seats vary much between saloon or Wagon?
My personal advice would be to buy a UK Standard car - avoid those messed about with (maybe with the exception of Wheels and BackBox).
Buy one with few owners, one if possible and avoid a car being sold on within a few months to 1 year of ownership!
Above all, NEVER - EVER - buy a cheap one!

Wagons are gaining more popularity now than ever, I agree with a lot of what Pete says.
Nowt like passing a Porsche on the M1 at 150 with a fridge in the back
I struggled to fine one last weekend, had to compromise on the colour in the end.

Thanks for the advice
I'm not that worried about depriciation but obviously if there is a big difference between the two cars it may help me choose.
The wagon sells for 1k new compared to the saloon however I was told that they sell for approx 2k less used compared to the saloon. Another 3k loss over 2-3 years. Although it is very hard to find that this is the case due to wagons being hard to find.
Like the comment about the fridge
Main question is rear seats planing to take kids at weekend to try them out
cheers

Wagons seem to be the in thing. Not just with Subaru (who have obviously been doing it for years) but with all othe r manufacturers as well. There are loads of Alfa sportwagons, BMW, Merc etc out there now as people go for the practical aspect of them. The fact that they are rare second hand goes to show this!

Indeed, the marketplace has changed due to more marques offering attractive wagons in their line-ups.
The 'look' of the Saloon is seen as chavvie and very dated - the Wagon is where the future money will be - that is happening already with 1 Wagon for sale for every 50 Saloons.

My kids find it comfortable, How old are yours, I have one 12 and one 6 who obviously is on a booster seat, but I have heard no complaints from the rear passangers.
Get the kids to sit in one and see what they think.

the back seats sit slightly higher than the fronts so they offer a good view out of the screen, classics wagons are only 35kgs heavier than salons so performance difference is negligible
Have a look here for a few decent examples
