I don't but they'd go in easy.

Get a bumper protector and floor cover from Subaru for about 120 and you're laughing

I used to run a WRX Wagon and had a Weimaraner, not the smallest of hounds. We had a dog guard fitted to stop her from deciding to hop over from the back and onto the rear seats She seemed happy enough in the back, had a reasonable amount of room to move about in and curl up on the floor should she wish to.

I'd certainly recommend at least dog guard and a rubber floot mat to keep things clean, perhaps stick a bit of vetbed on top of it to make it a little more homely for the hound.

Had wagons and a large dog(french mastiff). Was fine when he was young but once he reached full size, getting in was a bit more of a prob. Enough room as long as he did'nt want to move around.
If your dog is light and agile then no probs.

My Staffie goes in quite happily, but she's never too pleased about being separated. Worst problem is, when I'm enjoying myself driving she farts! Couple of observations:
* Getting the bumper protector in plastic is a good idea, protects the bumper from claw scratches and gives the dog a little more traction for getting in. The stainless steel looks better, but I'd imagine it would be slippy for the paws.
* I got the Subaru dog guard, which works great and fits nicely. It includes a hole for the middle seat belt, which other guards wouldn't have. The only problem with that is that the first time, my dog reached through the hole to get to me, found her way obstructed by the headrest, so tried to chew her way past it. Either remove the headrest, dose it in anti-chew spray, or hope your dog's better behaved than mine!
* My dog managed to pull up the floor in the load bay and chewed up the polystyrene underneath. Get the feeling my dog likes chewing? Subaru do a plastic tray that fits exactly, probably a good idea anyway.

Cheers
D

My Lab fits in no problem , they're not the biggest estste in the world , more of a large hatchback really , as said above, get a boot liner and a flap to protect the rear bumper .

look here for liners and dog guards Hatchbag - The Original Boot liner, Seat Covers, Pet Mats, Pet Aid, Odour Controller, dog guards, boot liner, boot liners, car boot liners, bootliner

Thumbs up

I have two Border Collies and they get in no problem. A bit tight for long Journeys but once they settle down they are fine.

If it is only one dog then they are big enough for most Breeds.

Make sure you have a bumper protector (As Mentioned above) though so your back bumper does not get scratched.

Dealer wanted around £100 for the dog Guard; I got mine of EBay for £45 deliver, was an original Subaru item and had only been used a few times. Fiddly to fix but once you got it adjusted right its pretty good. The space between the top of the back seat and the roof is so small (My car has rear Headrest) that my dog would have difficulty getting over the back seat (They quite well behaved thoughJ). However in an accident you want to stop things fly around.

One other thing worth considering is a boot liner, you can get them from Halfords for not a lot of money, however I think the moulded one from Subaru is worth the extra money as they are a much better fit and do a better job keeping the muddy paw marks at bay as they also go up the sides on the boot about 80-100cm.

Our other car is a Zafira GSi so we use that on long Journeys most of the time. If local for example going on a Muddy walk we take the impreza so we can get out of the Muddy areas easier.

Did she come from the breeder Kallasilya Weimaraners, is what I meant. I ask as I happen to know the aforementioned breeder (and her lovely hounds) rather well.
