Got done by a Scoobynet member....
Hi all
I recently brought a gearbox from a fellow scoobynet member that was advertised as done 50k, fitted it last week and to my major disapointment its crunch and whining. I check out this members previous posts and found out that he brought it a while back off here for less than I brought it and it had done 90k not 50k as he advertised it.
I know that there is always a risk buying second hand but looking at the guys post count he seemed genuine. If the box was ok when he had it, it could be just one of those things but the fact that I found out he brought it off here with a lot more mileage than he advertised pissed me off.
I haven't mentioned the guys username as I'm waiting to here what hes gonna say.
I know that I ain't gonna see my cash back, what else can I do ???

I'd establish the facts and ask moderator permission to name and shame presenting your evidence. If he's a sub 50 post count its hardly worth the effort but if he's a well-known member I think the community need to know his real name if possible and certainly his SN name. This forum has changed a lot over the years -I'd buy and sell almost anything on the S2000 forum without a second thought but I'd be MUCH more careful here.

I wish i had checked mate it wasn't til after I brought it and the problem arose that I checked his old posts. A lesson to be learnt from this for myself and fellow members.

White-Un - I know it's a difficult situation, but we do always advise that disputes are not handled openly on the board. Naming and shaming is not always helpful and as was proved by a thread yesterday, the initial facts may not always be as they seem.
That is not for a minute to doubt what you are saying is true, but you have to appreciate the position that it places SN in. More than once the board has been threatened with legal action because of user posts (in fact the board very nearly closed a few years back).

I dont own a scoob but im a bit for a forum lurker, one day i will own a scoob. I would've thought having disputes openly would only benefit the community and making them aware of "suspect" individuals. Obviosuly theres 2 sides to every story so this should be taken into account before making judgement having read only 1 side.

You may have purchased the sellers old whining 50k box - him using the 90k box now?Just a thought.
If he has made a profit then thats just good business ..... if, however, he has passed on a bad box then it's not right.

Because I searched his previous post and found who he brought it from, how much, the mileage, and even the place he had it fitted ! I only wish I'd done this before I brought it.
