Default DO I NEED A LAMBDA SENSOR IF MY MYO1 STI HAS A COMPLETE DE-CAT EXHAUST SYSTEM?????

Morning all

I have just had a complete new exhaust system on my MY01 STI JDM. It is now completely cat free. Do i still need the Lambda sensor attached I've had several opinions, some telling me i don't need it as it is now car free and others telling me i do???

I thought the idea of the Lambda was to allow the ECU to make changes to the fuel and air and should be attached? I do have a blanked off plug that i could plug the lambda into?

Secondly, i have fitted a K&N 57i induction kit.

The car has had both items attached for two days and is running really well and smooth. But after 2 days the engine management light has come on and remains on, (Not the engine check light) The car still runs great though. Any idea what if could be??

yes, the lamba sensor is like a nose for the ecu, snifs out how much fuel is goin through. not enough/to much then the ecu will adjust to suit.
hope that helps.
