Why did you buy your Impreza?
I'm a relative newbie to everything Impreza, but just curious whay peeps got their cars. Was it the looks? The noise it makes? The performance? The modding that can be done?
For me its a combination of noise, performance and looks. Everytime I heard an Impreza it made me want to go and get one, until I did

First Scoob was an impulse buy, went out to look at some TVR's and saw a white STi Type R sitting in the garage, week later it was mine and rest is history

I wanted a car that looked good, had good handling and good performance, and also a car that made a nice whoosy noise when you change gear... ahhh the joy of the dumpers!

A Jap Importer suggesting them to me. Admittedly I love the unique noise they make, but other than that I didn't want one. Until this particular Jap Importer suggested I seriously looked into them.... so I did, and they rest as they say is history!!!

I had a small budget, needed something with a larger than average load capacity and I wanted something that would be fun to drive.
I don't mind the fact that my wife and her mates take the **** out of me for owning a chav chariot.

Wanted the fastest thing i could afford for my £££ after years and years of riding high performance bikes...sadly, shortly after buying it the car wasnt quite what I expected and so i sold it again pretty soon to get back into bikes..
I still love scoobys and if I could afford to own/run two luxury toys, it'd be a bike and a scoob..love the noise, looks and the whole rally thing, hence me still popping up on scoobynet.

One of the best handling cars ever produced
More reliable than any Mercedes, BMW or Audi. (Subaru has less Warranty claims in the first 3 years of ownership than any Merc, BMW or Audi) Source: Warranty Direct/Auto Express magazine
Superb build quality
Performance
(On my 4th Impreza, now have a JDM STI 03) One of the best cars I have ever had.

Wanted to ditch company Focus 1.8 slow mobile
Friend took me for a ride in his Wagon.
Was looking at RX7s but Boss said I had to have 4 doors, so no choice really.
Quickest thing I could afford with 4 doors.
had a lucky escape from Mazda RX7 I think. My 97 UK turbo had 70K on clock when I got it, now has 124K and 300bhp and never misses a beat - I'd be approaching my second engine rebuild on an RX7.

power
Power, looks. adrenaline rush from driving it hard.
Great cars that get alot of looks with huge performance potential for a fraction of the price of other performance greats.

Performance was the main reason, so
at the time it was evo / wrx - couldn't
handle the wallet crippling running costs of the evo
so here I am (best decision by far)

Always liked them even though the wife calls it a chav mobile. I sold my astra 16 valved Chevette for 6 grand after spending years building it from a shell, the biggest mistake I ever made.
I was depressed for months so dicided to spend the money on a scoob as I had always fanced one but never had any spare cash.
Half went on buying it(wrx typr ra) and half plus a bit more went on mods.
I know it's old and looks a bit outdated but it's only a weekend car so I don't really care. It brings a smile to my face every time I drive it, I struggle to park it up after a blast, it really is addictive and great fun to drive.

I wanted one back in 1994 after seeing one which had been used by some bank-robbers as a getaway car.
They did get caught but the picture in the paper next day showed the Impreza head-on, rammed against a wall by loads of police cars.
I can still picture the image now, it looked like a caged animal.
Back then Imprezas were quite an unknown performance vehicle, I was already into unusual Jap cars (young driver in a Honda CRX in 1994-unheard of then) & this just opened my eyes to the hidden performance of one.
