R32 Golf, Hollow victory
You have all had it . Blaring headlights right up your jacksy, not overtaking, not dropping back, very tiresome !!
I decided to push my52 sti on a little down a short straight in the road. i never revved past 6300 as my beeper kept reminding me to change, bugger me if this littleupstart in a r32 came passed at a little over the speedlimit . so im thinking should i have revved a little higher through the gears & kept my foot planted or allow this vw a hollow victory. i realise that these german pretenters are fast in a straight line. i know i should have waited for the twisty's

ive just sold a mk4 golf r32 to get back into an impreza, i now have a sti spec d and it would eat it for breakfast lunch and diner in all gears on accelaration i would even say that my turbo 2000 impreza which i had before the r32 would have given it a run for its money as i knew before buying the r32 that it didnt feel as quick but the interior and build of it made my mind up. After driving it for 2 years and feeling a little gutted everytime i seen an impreza i had to change back, the r32 is a fantastic car theres no doubt in my mind about that but the problem is that it weights so much it feels sluggish the subaru dealer who i part exchanged it with said he had to take it out and he didnt think it was as quick as a wrx.

M8 you should have beaten the golf to death.
Ive got a UK 300 ecu tek few other bits rred at 285bhp.
Was behind a new R32 (56 plate) straight road i thought i would just have to stay behind him but no blew past him and before people say he wasnt trying i could hear he was as it sounded awesome.
And dont forget the GOlf is 4wd too.

Yep, one is built properly and retains it value, the other is a subaru.
I have a MKV GTI and previously owned an MY00. Don't get me wrong i will have another scoob at some point, but don;t pretend they are something they aren;t.

retain value and golf dont go together!! take it you read the article the other day? i paid £23,000 for the R32 and after 2 years it was woth £14,500 thats not what i recall retaining value!! my mate had a golf Mk5 GTI with every extra you can get inc DSG, tv and playstion and he was trying to sell it as he had bought the Mk5 R32, it took him nearly 7 months to get rid and he didnt get anywhere near what he wanted for it!!

I've driven one of the 06 Golf R32's and they really do feel good to drive, very smooth and they feel pretty well put together. It was nowhere near as quick as my 1996 STi though

golfs and men who like other men
IMHO golfs are for practical use, and the performance ones are for people without taste, and men who like other men in a special kind of way.
R32 is still a golf just kitted up, performance is ok but it still looks like a golf, why would anyone voluntarily do that to themselves?
