Default 03-05 JDM STI imports

Hi, im planning on buying a newage sti and after doing some research noticed that the import cars are much higher spec and seem the ones to go for...Did all import cars have dccd and twinscroll or was this this only on certain models(spec c)? Also, would the car need a remap straight away due to or uk fuel? Thankyou.

My bf has an 2003 JDM STI, that has the DCCD and twinscroll and his is just a normal STI, not a spec C so I think that all comes as standard!! the JDM's are a better car than the UK one's in my own opinion. The car will need remapping when it comes to the uk I'm sure but I might be wrong, I'm sure someone will be along to give you some answers!!

good luck! If you have the choice get the JDM!!

Jdm cars don't really need maping to uk fuel anymore as we have 99ron and the newage ecu's are very advanced and will retard it self to run on 99 ron.

I would recommend remapping the car for UK fuels. There are also many other benefits outside just the ignition timing; improve fuel comsumption and be able to change the speedlimiter without using de-limit boxes etc.

Gav's is suppose be run with 102 ron and is why he has to add octane booster, He's had to run 7/8 tanks of normal standard petrol through it before he can get it re-mapped to running on normal uk (99 ron) fuel! whilst running it on normal uk fuel without the octane booster the knock link has been going nuts!!!

I have a 54 plate JDM STi 9 it has the dccd, twin scroll turbo, equal length headers and wide track. Its absolutely brilliant, i love it. Apart from an Sti (defi style) boost guage and sti mud flaps its standard. Only done 12k mls. Colour wr blue. Car has no scratches or chips, and is always hand washed weekly (monthly polish). It has the newer style aluminium effect dash c/w single Cd and MD player.

I havent remapped it for Uk fuels, goes ace on V Power or Tesco 99 ron fuel.

I might sell it if you are intersted, i am changing jobs tomorrow and am undecided as to keep or sell. If price is right I will sell.

All JDM's of that age do indeed have twinscroll and DCCD, but it's a well known fact that white ones like this are fastest

was thinking of a 04/04 sti uk but may be swayed to the jap route (kagain) are these much better over the uk version and do they have the tendancy to suffer from engine issues as did the classic import due to fueling

thanks

When I bought my JDM MY03 WRX STi you had to state 'GL' spec to get extras such as DCCD, quick rack steering, sure there was other bits and bats but can't remember

There are some significant differences between a Japanese Spec STi and a Spec C, for example the STi may have a twin scroll turbo, buts its not a roller bearing one, that's unique to the Spec C.

Got to be a JDM, I have a MY04 STi, with all the goodies

On the rollers at Prosport mine pulls 349 bhp and 369ft/lb torque with just an exhaust and remapp

Mates car was a UK spec with exhaust decat remapp fuel pump and boost control was pushing 351bhp and 343ft/lb torque.

Whaen we went to the ring I let him drive my car on a couple of laps and he was pulling 15 mph more on the straights that his

As said before lots more toys

DCCD
Twin Scroll
Rear wash wipe
folding mirrors
defi style dash
STi ally key
Auto and maunual water spray
Hid 's
Mag alloys
stiffer springs
lighter car
indicaters on the correct side

the main thing the twin scroll does is a much quicker response from the turbo

Love mine to bits

and get her back on Sat

Only a minor difference I know , but on my JDM 04 when I have my lights on , it's the round section of the rear cluster that is illuminated & the brake lights are the outer section. On a UK car the brake lights are the round bit and back lights are the outer bit. What an anorak spot that is!!!
P.S Andy.S , if you don't mind me asking ,what exhaust you got on yours ? as I'm currently looking to get one for mine to replace the standard set STi one and am looking for some opinions on what suit the JDM cars.

False - Not all JDM STI's have DCCD-A. There are two model types, a GL with all the trimming and another one with a slightly lower spec which misses out on the DCCD.

Personally, I think the Siliver ones are the fastest https://www.scoobynet.com/projects-4...se-2-a-16.html

Cracking cars though, but 400BHP is really the limit on the standard Unit. Still with hardly any lag.

Shaun webmaster has got more from a hybrid, but low down response sufferred. I would like to his article, but its moved??

But, if you remap it with 'megaRom' tou can have differreent boost maps per gear.

I bought a second hand UK Spec o/s rear cluster and wiring loom for mine.

Using a soldering iron and heatshrinking the joins I re-wired mine so that the brake lights were the round onesm the sidelights the outer ones and the foglight the middle one on the o/s.

Took about an hours labour and makes the car look cleaner.
