Paid £14500 for my STi this time last year, private sale, (but I got a bargain so the previous owner keeps telling me!)

normally about £16000 for an 04STi at the mo i think

Where is the best place to buy one of these? I am also after a JDM STI. Things to look for etc.

Thanks

Bought mine last week in a private sale , 1st time I've bought privately and was a bit apprehensive , but the seller was a top guy & the car superb , got it cheaper than I would have done at a dealer, although I let my car go cheaper than I would have liked to ensure the sale .
One week into ownership of my 04 JDM STi and I love it. Roll On Spring & Summer I say.
So if you can , get the cash together , find an enthusiast owned car with a FSH & thrash out a cash deal , get so much more for your money IMO. Happy searching

Will do. Just started looking so hopefully the right one will pop up.
Any faults etc on this model?

Doesnt effect 2005 models but definately 2003 models and possably 2004 models but some didnt have the option of the drivers pack (though on the Spec C and the higher level model STi it was standard along with the BBS lightweight wheels, quick rack steering and A-DCCD)
So it is possible to buy a JDM STi twin scroll model without quickrack and A-DCCD on 03/04 models.

Shame about the colour. After one in silver or black.

Cheers anyway

Could I ask a couple of questions about the Spec C.

I'm seriously thinking about importing but am wanting one of the newer looking (hawk eye?) Does anyone know what (if any) are the changed between that and the 05?

Also, as far as the clutch goes I heard there was an uprated clutch compared to UK STi models - is this correct?

Thanks

Difference's between the MY05 'Blobeye' and MY06 'Hawkeye' Spec C would be a lot more cosmetic rather than mechanical. MY06 cars do have a different torque split (41:59 which is more in tune with the weight distrubution of the car) and a steering angle sensor for the DCCD.
