Talking GOOD BABY SEAT FOR AN STI8

Right, baby is due in just over 6 weeks - woo hoo!! We have organised one of those prams/ buggies/ baby seats for my wifes car however I want a cool wee bucket type seat for my STI 8 with the blue/ black suede effect seats. Quite fancy a Recaro and saw a nice one a while back in blue/ black a while back however have not seen one since...

Any pictures or suggestions.......

Well here is mine & it's very comfy. Nice thick shoulder pads on the harness.

Sorry, it's black & silver to match the black seats in my black Stealth Wagon.

For starters don't get a babyseat that goes in the pram. Keeping a baby in a car seat for longer than is needed ie. longer than just in the car, apparently does them no good.
I bought a Cosy Tot Premium ISOFIX, a perfect fit for the 03sti and the baby of course.

i was told this aswell today, and i have been told anywhere between 1.2-2.5 hours max, then got to take the baby out, as they need to lay flat, rather than in a curve.

think it must be some new thing out, as some of my friends havent heard it before.

Check angle of seat as some make babys head tip forwards due to slope of STI rear seats. We had to take our baby seat back to shop after alarmingly finding 1 week old daughter slumped forward after 200 yards. Had we not checked goodness knows what might have happened! Lot of seats have angle adjustment so would suggest trying seat in car first to make double sure it makes baby lie slightly back.

I keep eyeing up those Recaro seats in the Demon Tweeks catalogue...the thing is, much as I want Recaro, if it turns out that Maxi Cosi or whatever fits my little lad better, then that's what I'll get.

Is there anywhere where I can actually try out a Recaro? Halfords don't have them. Anyone else had Recaro and pleased with it?

I think the travel systems (car seat fits in pushchair) are best for the first 6 months. Not having to wake the baby up every time you need to nip in and out of shops keeps the missus happy (especially if they are a crier!). If you are going round the shops for ages then leave the seat in the motor and use the pushchair in non-seat mode - best of all worlds. This is from 2yrs experience and 2 nippers.

The actual height is 135cm, if they are less than this you need a seat or booster. Our eight year old daughter is 139cm though and in no way would I sit her in the car without a booster as the belt goes accross her neck. Who the hell comes up with these measurements?

Default Autosafe Seat Belt Height Adjuster

If anyone is worried about the seat belt going round a child's neck then you should try the Autosafe Seat Belt Height Adjuster. It was featured on Dragon's Den and received with great enthusiasm. It fastens around the car's seat and has a simple clip that the seat belt slides through. You then move the clip into the correct place and the seat belt then fits securely over the child's shoulder. I've got it in all my cars and it really does work.

Am aware of these but i still think a booster seat allows the belt to fit a child better. The booster also includes a height adjuster but even without this it fits properly.

The point i was making was the government guide height for unassisted use is 135cm but that is clearly too small. Who decides this crap? They pay millions for someone to write a paper on this.

Can't you see the family resemblance?

Life takes many twists & turns and then when you least expect it . . . . . you meet your soul mate.

You find you have the same hobbies.

And before you know it.Two become four & you are a family.

Happy days.
