Andy,
was in the same boat as you a few months back due to Independant going belly up.

At the time I really did not want a tracker, due to the fact that if someone nicks the car and does nasty stuff to it then I'd rather not have it back. But most places wanted a tracker otherwise it was rediculous premium time or no insurance. Luckliy around that time Puff was doing a great deal on the NavTrak tracker, so I changed my tune and got one fitted. Went to Tom (who I was already with) and got the best quote I'd had, and was happy.

Spec is:
age 27
NCB 4yrs
Parked on street
pretty good postcode

Car is MY94 WRX Wagon, with various mods (exhaust, induction kit, alloys, lowered suspension, morettes)

think it's about 1400 quid, which is not bad really

oh, and navtrak Proactive.

Just want to add something about trackers. make sure you ask the company what type of tracker they require, passive or active. think that most will want the active type. not 100 percent sure on the differences, but for navtrak if it's passive then you have to contact them when the car disappears, but if you have active then they contact you.

(Puff, hope I'm not being cheeky here, if so then let me know and I'll edit this bit)
As for tracker prices, have a word with puff as he might still be able to do a good deal on NavTrak, though I'm not sure

Hi Andy,

You could try giving Tesco a ring, they where the cheapest by far (for me at least). The only thing is they will want a tracker on it, which isn't a bad idea...

Matt

Tesco where about £1400 for me (28, no ncb, had license 2.5 years, SP50 on the license, car in the midlands).

A tracker... varies but a GPS one is about £500 or so.

Try A-Plan 0845 0711234 and ask for Lee or Tim.

I got my STi insured with them at around £850. Had 2 claims in Oct 98... That price is with a couple of mods too.

28, STi4, parked on drive in Dorset.

Last three years Hastings Direct have been cheapest (by a long way). They nearly doubled their premium this year, so first phone call was to Churchills (yes...). £100 cheaper than last years....didn't phone anywhere else....£429 comp.
