sva test for import?

Default sva test for import?

Hi guys.
looking for some advise from some one who has done this them selves.

i'll be buying and bringing in a 1998 impreza type r sti gc8 etc from japan.

what i was looking for is what i have to do for the sva a test and how to go about it?
will i be able to get it ready for a test and then book it in etc??????????

Hi mate unfortunately you will not be able to get the car registered in the UK. The reason being for post 97 cars you need a model report and as far as i am aware there is no model report available for any Type R.
You could get a model report but it could cost anywhere from a couple of grand to about 5k.

i think you can register it as a normal wrx but check with the importer and see if they can help point you in the right direction or get it done for you ...it has been done before...there is a guy on the skyline forum with a 97 type r and has had it a year or so...daemon is his user name !! try there !!

just looked in to these reports.
it states you only need a e-sva if the car is under ten years old.
so a jan 1997 type r would not need a report.

a type r over 10 years old will be expensive its easier to pay the cash for one in this country i remember seeing a 96 for 460,000 yen, then you dont know how it drives or sounds etc , im waiting for the evo 5,s but i bet they will be a fortune as well
