whats better jap import or uk model
iam a car enthusiast but admit to not knowing much about impreza's.
toying with the idea about owning one for the future.
can someone briefly explain the pros and cons of uk and import models.
for example can i run a uk model on 95 ron opposed to 98 and octane booster for an import cos i cant be hacked with that.
if i was wanting to buy a new imprezza is import better than uk model and why?what about the older ones ?
from what i know which could be next to nothing imports come with stronger internals and more power but require high octane fuel and uk models shouldnt have the boost increased due to a weaker engine.
a few pointers to bring me up to speed would be great thx

The following is regards to the newage cars as I'm guessing that's what you intend on buying.
Here's what JDM STI gets over a UK spec STI:
- still use the EJ20 (2 litre) engine
- Twin Scroll Turbo
- Nitride coated, cross drilled crank (improved hardness and oiling, allowing higher RPM)
- 13:1 STI quick rack
- Slightly larger I/C design
- Auto and manual I/C spray (UK get manual activation only)
- More aggressive inlet cams
- Equal length headers
- Rear wash wipe
- Electric folding wing mirrors
- Privacy glass
- 235 width tyres (UK get 225)
- Additional yaw sensors for the Active Centre Diff
- 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th same as UK, 5th and 6th are shorter
- Front STI Titanium strut brace
- 8,000rpm Redline
Personally I cannot see why anyone would really buy a UK car, other than the warranty issue. JDM cars are a much better spec, so if you want the technically superior car then you know what to do
Some people will say that you can run a UK car on 95RON but at the end of the day what's the point. It's a performance car so give it performance fuel.
JDM cars do not essentially need octane booster. You can get away with running them purely on V-Power which is 99RON. You can always get it remapped if you want to be on the safe side.
If you are seriously considering buying a JDM car and have the necessary funds then I would go and see Iain Litchfield. I did He's the man when it comes to imports and remaps the car for UK fuel to be on the safe side.
Best of luck on your decision.

JDM Car, Why go for a lesser UK model for the same price?
Ask yourself, why am i paying the same amount for less of car than I could be.
That did it for me
