Ok mate heres one simple way for around £20 to make sure it never gets messed with , i have used this for 14 yrs now, you will need

1 x Pir movement sensor ( like the ones on a driveway spot light) £9.99 Argos
1 x 10mtr extention lead £4 wilkos
1 x 12v adapter £1 from £1 shop
1 x 12v buzzer £3 maplins

cut the extention lead in half and conect the pir so you have power in to it , and a socket on the power out side, mount this pointing at your car ( mine is mounted on the bedroom windowsill) plug the 12v adatpter in the empty socket and wire the buzzer to it, thats it your done , when you turn it on it will buzz for 20 secs then its set , if any one goes anywhere with in 5 m>10m of your car the buzzer goes off and wakes you up, Ive got 2 pirs set on mine and covers all my cars from every angle, no-one can get antwhere near my cars let alone touch them, it works and its cheep and simple and very loud, make sure the pir is set on day time to so they carn't shine a light at the sensor,

Now you're going to stay awake waiting for the damn buzzer to go off!
Seriously, this is a good idea and I'm sure you could adapt to trigger a warning that the "intruder" could see/hear?

This really sucks.

TBH i would not hide the keys i would leave them downstairs. If they want your car, break in and cannot find the keys and come upstairs looking for them then you could be in trouble.

Baseball bat - nice idea, what if they have knives or guns or there is a few of them?

It is only a car, with impovements in car security systems - mobilisers, tracking systems, blackjack, etc the weak point is now the owner, on the move or at home.

severe penalties would be one way to tackle this.

Do like Octains idea and making it visibly more difficult is not a bad idea.

Had the full experience, if they want it, they will get it no matter what, the only extra i put on the car was aclifford alarm and a black-jack{anti-hyjack}
At least if they get it they won't get too far.
Trust me the Qoute really is not very nice at all, especially if you have got kids in bed, and idiots with guns downstairs.

You have got to put reality into practice, is the car worth all the worry!
Better still park it in front of someone elses house.

Let me stress the 12v buzzer has no problem wakeing you up at all , and using the extension lead means you can plug anything in you like, mine turns the buzzer on and turns a table lamp on by my bed, i can go fast asleep knowing that if anyone goes close i get woke up in a right start LOL if you like you can wire a strobe to it outside so they know they have been spotted , i prefure to just alert me and not them so i have the chance to Bat the F..kers

That's the trouble with us brits, most are afraid to stand up for their rights.
Get a battering and you wont be afraid for the next one.

I do know what you are saying, it is just plain wrong that scumbags can take pretty much what they want with little chance of caprture or punishment.

Get a removable ground anchor concreted in place. Once on the drive it shouldn't be going anywhere.

Could also get a big dog

First things first for ANY Subaru: Disklock, or Autolock 2000. That will address most of the the OE security system's flaws. Bar type steering locks are no good.

After that you need to make sure the house is secure enough not to allow them to break in easily, or without a noise.

I cannot belive you have to leave the keys downstairs for them out of fear, this is absolutley shocking. I cant belive all this just for being able to afford the car you want, makes me sick. If i get anyone waiting outside my house when i get mine i am seriosly investing in a high power air rifle.

With regards to the buzzer things, sounds like a good idea but does it not end up going off all night with things blowing around, animals walking past, etc?

I think you should get one of these

Stunmaster 975,000 volt Stun gun

Actually its redistribution, why should poor old jimmy go without a subaru just because he was underprivilaged and refused to work. Thats socialism, if we want it solved then we are going to need a hard line government. The only thing you can do is if your lucky enough to catch them make sure they never forget the consequences of touching your car. Of course if they are packing guns your buggered.

if someone wants your car Mick a buzzer won't put them off, as kicking down your door will make more noise than a buzzer, then as they threaten you with a gun a put a knife to your wife/childrens throat what good is your buzzer ?

Tracker monitor and fit one of those blackjack boxes then you can sleep easy knowing the car will stop on them about a mile away and there is **** all they can do about it
