if the police can do you for pulling over on the hard shoulder, and staying in your car.
why do the police ask you to sit in theres on the hard shoulder when they pull you on the motorway?
Is there a time limit, or just one rule for them and one for us
Can anyone tell me

Safety. Dangerous places the hard shoulder. A marked Police vehicle is somewhat more visible than your car plus you can't do a runner whilst you're locked in the rear.

Ask any RAC or AA repairman why.

Quite a few have been killed over the years when working on hard shoulders, depsite having bright coloured vans and flashing lights.
