Default Want a scooby in near future

Hi all,

I have been through about every car and thought yes i will go for that one, from escrot rs turbo to astra coupes, scooby was in the big list also. Anywho now i have 4k to spend i am looking back at scoobys...

i have found a garage that is about 5 minutes from my house who always has scoobys and other fast imports etc, so that might be a good thing.

Only problem is i still no jack ***** about cars in general, nevermind just one. and looking about at scoobys online im seeing, my99, wrx, sti, type r, type ra, uk sti, blahblah... and its just leaving me dizzy!!!

another worry is buying a car like a scooby and simply knowing jack ***** about it apart from the fact its fast.

All i want is a fast nice sounding good looking motor, and scooby has to be the one. Now all i need to know is what one to go for. im thinking about waiting until i have 5k.

So for 4/5k what could i get and which one would be in my best interest? as i said i just want it powerfull, sounding sexy and hopefully black or silver or dark blue. also how are they on fuel? im guessing bad cause of 2.0 turbo... but how about driving very slow about? I have never even drove a turbo before

Thanks alot and cant wait for some advice, merry x,mas

Factor in insurance to that £4-5k budget as it can be hefty. Age, NCB? For your budget you'll generally be looking at classics, '93-00. If you want more power go for a JDM import (Japanese Domestic Market), which should be running around 260/270bhp as standard for a 2.0 turbo. STi's are dearer as they have uprated parts etc and a "more expensive" interior.

If it doesn't sound quite like you want an aftermarket exhaust should get you there.

Fuel 20-30mpg depending on your driving style.

Test drive one.... but I'd have the money before you do... don't want you going into the overdraft

Yeh have took insurance into consideration. I am 22 [0] no calims. Classic sounds good, i thought sti had more power or something. 260/270bhp sounds perfect for me. I want big power like that but not silly power etc. Thanks for the advice. And mitch I sent you an email mate

It would appear you have indeed driven a turbo before mate, unless you bought the escort and then just left it to disintegrate

Find an insurance quote first cause if you have no NCB and are going for a Subaru Turbo you are going to need to really consider that cost. ALso how many miles a year do you intend to drive?

Fair enough - dont be ashamed though, I have driven all manner of dogs, my last car was a 12 year old 1.8 vectra, it was such an old shoe.

Anyway, the reason I ask is because I was intrigued at your statement:

How do you know this?

A UK Turbo is about 215/220 (if you can find a standard one) would this do? It might be cheaper on insurance.

I drive a citroen saxo.

uk turbo would be great also, when i say perfect for me.. i mean like more than enough. im the sort of person who would rather have a 260bhp than 200, even if i never use it.. if you know what i mean.

Well well, a saxo eh? No wonder you didnt want to share that with us,
Joking aside, no shame in that, I think most of us have driven worse cars than that in our time. (not saying yours is bad!)

Back on the car though, do have a think about the servicing and wear n' tear costs too. Regular servicing and good tyres are not that cheap.

If you are in Essex, you could take my 94 WRX with 279bhp & 285lb/ft off me for £4500 ono.
Less common colour too:

Thanks Ryo. Its a shame to have to be selling but I've had an Impreza over 4 years now and time to get something cheaper on petrol and more modern.

Hey no worries.

Well it seems like its been looked after for 4 years judging from one pic. It shines. Im 30 and only had my scoob for 6 months, so its still all new to me.

Been wanting one for years but it's taken me ages to get to the point where it's viable.

After bumming around in my yoof and then buying a house 6 years ago, I decided this summer I was going to get a scoob because I can afford it at the mo - no looking back now.
