Got a claim going through and im in court on the 5th of Dec because the police are taking this bloke to court for leaving the scene and not reporting accident, car was parked up I was coming out of shop and seen him reverse into my car denting rear boot lid (which ive replaced cos it looked a mess) and scrached bumper, he drove off and ive got an independent witness.
Now my insurance runs out on the same day as court case and its gone from £660 last year to £1150, should i cancel the claim and get my NCB back cos i need it for other insurers, its nearly a year and my insurance (Equity Red Star through Lancaster who said to me why are you still claiming if you have replaced boot - tossers) havent even got a reply out of their insurance.

Should I cancel the claim and after court case chase up his insurance myself.

You are claiming on your insurance or his?

If you are only claiming against him, cancel the claim and get your no claims bonus if your insurance company have paid out nothing.

Who is funding the court case? Is it only the police for failure to report? or is it you for recovering your damages?


If you can ccancel the claim and follow it up yourself then I would do that.
Worst case scenario continue as you are and ask the new ins company how whether they will keep note of the difference in premium resulting from your outstanding claim will be refunded when settled in your favour.
