Most Ridiculous Wheels Award 2000
#1
I think I might have done myself an injury, such was the sight I've just seen.
As I was wheeling out the Scoob, a Golf pulled into my neighbour's drive with 19" wheels!! wearing what must have been aboout 225 boots. The wheels even had "Yes they are 19's" written on. With standard brakes all round, I can't begin to describe how silly they looked.
To round it all off, out stepped a lanky being with puffa and cap. Just needed a bonet scoop to finish it off.
I havn't laughed so much Grandma caught her left tit in the mangle (apologies to Pete and Dud).

I saw a Golf MkII last weekend. The guy had these metallic plastic inserts which vaguely looked like cross drilled brake discs, and he had placed them between his wheels and the hubcaps. He didn't have alloys, but he wanted it to apear as if he had cross drilled brakes. I had to stop myself laughing out loud - he seemed very proud of his car as well.
Saw a bodykitted Escort a few weeks ago which had the Escort wording on the boot replaced with the word 'SORTED'. It also had a nice Max Power sticker on it. Oh dear...

Check out this months cover of Performance BMW. It has a Supercharged COmpact on there with the Scooby scoop and Bonett vents, I laughed so hard I nearly bought a round of drinks

Pete,
Lets test that suit of your's shall we?
Flame throwers - Check.
Incendary (sp) devices - Check.
You are talking a complete load of ****. Everyone else knows that Dark Metallic Green looks best with Gold Safaris. Gold looks good with Blue as well. Prodrive know that gold is best. Thats why they're fitted to the WRC.
Don't give me none of this - 'but the P1 doesn't come with Gold' crap. Miss guided fools. Gold is best.
I suppose you have the 'Dirty Grey Coloured' alloys. Sorry, I mean, Anthracite or what ever the name is. Or the brake dust specials. aka Silver when clean.
P.

Been to your site - nice car - shame about the wheels
Honestly - no-one can now think that they look smart - cool - or anything else but GAY??
Even if you knew where I lived you would have a slight problem as I work out and am 20 stone !!!! do ya feel lucky??? well ..... do ya punk??
I have the DBM with SILVER wheels and it looks miles better than with some girlie golds on ...... why would anyone ruin a great car by putting naff coloured wheels on it - sorry - just dont get it !!!!
Fire away !!! anyone want to help me out??
Pete

lucky against a bulldozer? ;o)

pslewis: You can say what you like about gold wheels, but my gold-wheel shod Impreza will be a damn site faster than yours, given that your car has the handicap of 20-stones worth of village idiot behind the wheel. I can understand how someone who "works out" regards the BMW M3 & M5 as looking "smart"! Heh heh heh heh!!!!
I don't know...the rubbish on here lately. God help us if there's a war.

Have to agree with pslewis.
Don't like the gold wheels.
Each to their own, of course - if you like your gold wheels, then good for you.
Must admit the WRC car does benefit from the 'trademark' gold wheels.
Still, I think my Silver Machine looks better with silver wheels.
My opinion and I'm entitled to it!

Your wheels may look better, but as everyone knows gold is almost twice as heavy as silver so your gold wheels increase the unsprung weight and screw up your handling.
That's why I use silver wheels on trackdays

Ok People
Gold
Color is golden "butter" yellow.
Luster is metallic.
Transparency is opaque.
Crystal System is isometric; 4/m bar 3 2/m
Crystal Habits include massive nuggets and disseminated grains. Also wires, dendritic and arborescent crystal clusters.
Cleavage is absent.
Fracture is jagged.
Streak is golden yellow.
Hardness is 2.5 - 3
Specific Gravity is 19.3+ (extremely heavy even for metallic minerals)
Silver
Color is silver white with exposed specimens tarnishing black.
Luster is metallic.
Transparency is opaque.
Crystal System is isometric; 4/m bar 3 2/m
Crystal Habits include massive and disseminated grains, wires and plates as the most common, whole individual crystals are extremely rare but when present are usually cubes, dodecahedrons and octahedrons. "Jack Frost" type crystal growth as shown on some specimens produces beautiful intricate structures. Wires can form coiled clusters that resemble rams horns.
Cleavage is absent.
Fracture is jagged.
Streak is silver white.
Hardness is 2.5-3.
Specific Gravity is variable according to purity 10-12 (well above average even for metallic minerals
Now the most telling thing :sadly: is that in both cases cleavage is absent.
Maybe I should have bought a car with wheels made from coal

Kissing hairy beanbags - Now that is an image I can live without...
You don't have a Mr.T type gold medallion collection do you? "I pity the fool without gold wheels " etc.
