Default MY07 JDM WRX STi vs (classic) WRX STi 6??

Just wondered .... what would happen in a race on your standard private ScoobyNet "twisty road".

Other than weight (approx 200Kg difference) what are the main factors that would differentiate the two cars on said "twisty road"?

Equal drivers (or the same driver) and 200kg's make no difference over advancements, increased torque for pulling better in gear, better braking etc.... I know which one gets my vote

Hi James (we met at the Power Eng RR day)
Now that I've had even more time to assess my STI4 - the newer cars just have MUCH MUCH better handling. I'm comparing my old newage WRXs (blob and bug) to my STI4 and the newage cars win hands down. I could attack any twisty road harder in my newages than in the classic.

Overall, I agree. Hoskibs Sti 8,even without PPP, just felt so much more planted than my (his old) UK Turbo.

I think as said

If drivers are equal

Main differences would be

Lighter..... STi6
Braking MY07
Front Diff, Auto DCCD in wet MY07
More Power/Troque MY07.
More Comfort whilst doing it MY07
Looks better Sti6 !!!!mmmmhm not so sure, mine looks Greaaaaaaaaat
What got loads more warranty and 70000 less miles and stronger internals MY07

IMHO

Tony

Hey Tommy - still smiling?

I've heard that the new age models are some 200% more rigid than the classics. Don't know how they measure it but that must count for something.

Follow up question then would be how much more power would the classic need over the new age to stay competitive. 30bhp, 50bhp, .... 100 bhp ???
